Travis Kelce reveals he had “someone playing Cupid” to assist in Taylor Swift hookup

Gotham/GC Images

By now, everyone knows that Travis Kelce attempted to meet Taylor Swift when she played Arrowhead Stadium over the summer, but he wasn’t able to pull it off. So, how did they go from that to Taylor eventually showing up in his VIP suite at the stadium and leaving with him after the game? Travis has revealed that there were some behind-the-scenes machinations that helped turn them into America’s favorite couple.

Speaking to WSJ. Magazine for a cover story, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end said that some people around Taylor helped make it happen. “There were definitely people she knew that knew who I was, in her corner [who said]: ‘Yo! Did you know he was coming [to the concert]?’ I had somebody playing Cupid.”

However, he says he didn’t know that at the time; he only found out when she texted him. “She told me exactly what was going on and how I got lucky enough to get her to reach out,” he explains.

On their first date in New York City, Travis says, “We had  already kind of been talking, so I knew we could have a nice dinner and, like, a conversation, and what goes from there will go from there.”

When it comes to life, Travis says he and Taylor — who he calls “hilarious” and a “genius” — are on the same page. “Everybody knows I’m  a  family  guy … I think she has a lot of those values as well, which is right up my alley.”

Travis’ mom, Donna, tells WSJ. Magazine, “He’s happier than I’ve seen him in a long time.”

Travis and Taylor have even sung together: A friend tells the publication that one night during a hang, he and Taylor launched into a duet of Wheatus‘ “Teenage Dirtbag.”

NBCUniversal

Noah Kahan is making his Saturday Night Live debut.

The “Dial Drunk” artist will perform on NBC’s long-running sketch show for the first time on December 2. Emma Stone, who’s starring in the upcoming film Poor Things, will host.

In another example of manifesting one’s own success, Kahan made his intentions of playing SNL known back in 2021, writing on what was then called Twitter, “I wanna perform on SNL I don’t even care if it’s [an] off brand version called Sunday Night Live just get me on the show I’ll do anything.”

Following the news, Kahan dug up his two-year old tweet, adding the caption, “rub your eyes.”

Meanwhile, the last episode of SNL, which aired Saturday, November 18, featured a sketch parodying Imagine DragonsAndrew Dismukes and James Austin Johnson played members of a band called Remember Lizards that’s often confused for ID because they play the same genre of music: “uplifting kid-friendly hip hop/arena rock with a pump-up edge.”

In concert, Kesha drops Diddy’s name from her biggest song

Kyle Gustafson / For The Washington Post via Getty Images

At her November 18 LA concert, Kesha changed the lyrics of her biggest song so that it no longer mentioned Sean “Diddy” Combs.

According to Billboard, when Kesha sang “TiK ToK,” she changed the opening line “Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy” to “Wake up in the morning feeling just like me.”

The change came a day after Combs and former girlfriend Cassie settled a lawsuit in which she’d accused him of sex trafficking and sexual assault, according to court documents.

On Friday evening, the singer/actress released a statement, noting, “I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control. I want to thank my family, fans and lawyers for their unwavering support.”

Combs, in his own statement, said, “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love.” The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

In June of 2023, Kesha and former producer Lukas “Dr. Luke” Gottwald settled their legal battle, which had gone on for nearly a decade. Kesha had claimed that he had drugged and sexually assaulted her; Gottwald denied her claims and sued her for defamation and breach of contract.

It remains to be seen whether Jonas Brothers will drop Diddy’s name from the lyrics of Joe’s DNCE song “Cake by the Ocean,” which they’re performing as part of their ongoing tour.

Kevin Mazur/Getty Images for RS

Ever since The Rolling Stones announced their new album, Hackney Diamonds, fans have been speculating that they’ll be going back out on the road. Well, now it seems the band is teasing just that.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers shared a post on social media, set to the tune “Street Fighting Man.” It featured a variety of images, including a drum with their lips logo on it, a maple leaf and an American flag, which may be hinting at a North American tour.

“Want to be the first to know? Enter your details here,” the caption notes. The post also includes a link that takes you to a sign up page that reads, “The news you have all been waiting for…”

Fans were quick to pick up on the possible tour tease, with one writing, “Can’t wait for the #HackeyDiamondsTour 2024!” Another added, “Sounds like the tour announcement is coming soon!”

The Stones’ post wasn’t the only reason fans think tour news is imminent. Cleveland.com reports that over the weekend, the rockers teased a stop in the city. Their tongue and lips logo flashed on the screen at Terminal Tower and Cleveland Browns Stadium, and was seen on billboards around the city, along with the words “Miss You.” The logo also appeared outside Empower Field at Mile High stadium in Denver and Soldier Field in Chicago.

Funeral set for Dexter Wade, Jackson man exhumed from potter’s field, as family alleges ‘cover up’

nazarethman/Getty Images

(NEW YORK) — The family of Dexter Wade is set to hold a funeral on Monday afternoon for the 37-year-old man, who was fatally struck by an off-duty police officer in Jackson, Mississippi, on March 5 and was buried in a potter’s field for more than five months before authorities notified his family.

The Rev. Al Sharpton is expected to deliver the eulogy for Wade, while family attorney Ben Crump will continue to call on the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate the Jackson Police Department in the wake of Wade’s death.

Wade’s mother, Bettersten Wade Robinson, accused the county and police of a “cover up” after it took more than five months for her to be informed of her son’s death, despite having reported him missing on March 14 to Jackson police – nine days after she had last heard from him.

Wade Robinson, who told ABC News that she provided her contact information to police and is questioning why they did not inform her of her son’s death and burial until Aug. 24.

“Right now I’m hoping I can get to some kind of answer as to why it happened and what was the reason that it happened. But right now I’m still not satisfied,” Wade Robinson told ABC News Live’s Linsey Davis in an interview that aired Nov. 15 on Prime.

“It’s a steady cover up,” she added.

The funeral comes after the family released on Thursday the results of an independent autopsy that contradict city officials’ statements regarding why it took so long for police to notify Wade’s family of his death.

According to Crump, the independent autopsy found that Wade did have a wallet in the front pocket of his jeans when he was killed that contained his state identification card with his home address, his credit card, and a health insurance card – a detail that directly contradicts a statement made by Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba.

“The fact that Dexter had a state identification card and several other identifying items shows us that there was a concerted effort to keep the truth and manner of his death from his family,” Crump said in a statement on Thursday. “There is no excuse, not even incompetence, for not notifying a next of kin of an identified man’s death.”

Lumumba previously acknowledged during his State of the City address on Oct. 26 that there was a “lack of communication” that led to the months-long delay in letting Wade’s family know what had happened to him and said that the delay was, in part, due to Wade having no ID on his person when he was killed.

According to Lumumba, police could not initially identify Wade. He did, however, have a prescription drug bottle that eventually allowed the Hinds County medical examiner’s office to identify him.

“The failure was that ultimately, there was a lack of communication with the missing persons division, the coroner’s office and accident investigation,” Lumumba said.

ABC News has reached out to the Hinds County Coroner’s Office to inquire about the results of the county autopsy and the circumstances that led the medical examiner to identify Wade, but requests for comment were not returned.

ABC News has also reached out to the city of Jackson and the mayor’s office following the release of findings of the independent autopsy report.

A spokesperson for the Jackson Police Department previously declined to comment to ABC News when asked about Wade’s death and the circumstances that led to the delay in informing his family.

During the mayor’s State of the City address, Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade — who is no relation to Dexter Wade — offered his condolences to Wade’s family.

“I cannot imagine the pain that they’re feeling,” the police chief said. “I put measures in place to make sure something like this does not happen on my watch. I’ve also put the right people in place to make sure this does not happen on my watch.”

The independent autopsy report also found, according to Crump, that Wade’s body was not embalmed and was in an advanced state of decomposition when he was exhumed last week. It also found that his left leg was amputated and he had multiple blunt force injuries to the skull, ribs, and pelvis.

Lumumba said in his address on Oct. 26 that “at no point have we identified, nor did any investigation reveal that there was any police misconduct in this process.”

“The accident was investigated and it was determined that it was, in fact, an accident, and that there was no malicious intent,” he added.

The office of Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens said in a statement on Oct. 27 that his office was working with the Jackson Police Department, Hinds County Coroner’s Office, and other relevant agencies to investigate Wade’s death, the failure to notify his next of kin in a timely manner and the “irregularities surrounding the disposition of Mr. Wade’s body.”

“We ask for the public’s patience as this important work is undertaken,” Owens added.

ABC News reached out to Owens’ office to inquire about the status of the investigation, but a request for comment was not immediately returned.

Kim Kardashian reportedly producing and starring in movie comedy ‘The 5th Wheel’

ABC/Randy Holmes

Sorry, Patti LuPone: It looks like Kim Kardashian has been bitten by the acting bug.

Deadline reports the mogul and reality show superstar is producing and will star in a comedy movie she is pitching to studios called The 5th Wheel.

30 Rock veteran Paula Pell is writing the project, which, the trade reports, five studios are battling to produce. Kim “has been very hands on in the pitch,” the trade continues, noting she personally attends meetings to boost the project, the plot of which is still under wraps.

Kardashian recently appeared in FX’s American Horror Story: Delicate — a turn that seemingly incensed Tony winner LuPone, who dissed her on a segment of Watch What Happens Live!.

“Excuse me, excuse me, Kim. You know, what are you doing with your life? Don’t get on the stage, Mrs. Worthington,” LuPone said sarcastically, a reference to Noël Coward‘s 1935 song of the same name.

She also said reality stars, like Kim, take jobs away from actors.
