Charlie Puth and his wife, Brooke Puth, just became first-time parents, so it’s a good thing Charlie’s new album is the perfect soundtrack for that.

The album, Whatever’s Clever!, arrives on Friday. He tells Vogue, “I’m really excited that my life has finally lined up musically to where I want to be. The music is directly parallel with that, which is why Whatever’s Clever! is all Yacht Rock 2026-style.”

Among the musical guests on the album are yacht rock icons Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins, as well as Kenny G and even Jeff Goldblum.

“With all respect to the artists that are featured on this album, it’s music I would listen to as a dad, if that makes sense. So I feel very aligned with it,” Charlie adds. “I think it’s very serendipitous and there’s meaning behind everything, and there might be a reason why this album is arriving in a similar timeframe.”

Charlie and Brooke welcomed their son Jude Crawford Puth on March 13.

He adds, “I’m gonna enter this really exciting stage of life and I feel like this is the perfect soundtrack to that. I feel like it’s a perfect time to get to write really specific songs about subjects that you might not have heard me sing about.”

Charlie describes the album’s first single, “Changes,” as sounding like “a Steve Winwood, happy-go-lucky, 1992-era, optimistic-sounding, big snare of a song.” The singer, who was born in 1991, notes, “I made this album for myself, and it’s full of music from the year I was born. It’s a passion project.”

“In the most humble way, I have nothing to prove anymore. That’s at least how I feel,” Charlie says.

Deadly LaGuardia Airport crash: Runway safety system ‘did not alert,’ NTSB says

Deadly LaGuardia Airport crash: Runway safety system ‘did not alert,’ NTSB says
NTSB investigators walk the scene of the March 22 collision between an Air Canada Express plane and a firefighting vehicle on Runway 4 at LaGuardia Airport in New York City, March 23, 2026. (NTSB)

(NEW YORK) — Two people were in the LaGuardia Airport air traffic control tower cab when an Air Canada jet collided with a Port Authority airport vehicle on a runway at the New York City airport on Sunday night, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.

The on-the-ground crash killed both pilots, left dozens injured and prompted LaGuardia to shut down for more than 12 hours. Antoine Forest has been identified by his family as one of the two pilots killed.

The collision happened shortly after Air Canada Flight 8646, which was carrying four crew members and 72 passengers, touched down from Montreal around 11:45 p.m., according to Port Authority Executive Director Kathryn Garcia. The plane, which was operated by Jazz Aviation, struck a rescue-and-firefighting vehicle responding to another aircraft, officials said.

Preliminary data shows the plane was traveling between 93 and 105 mph when it impacted the fire truck, FlightRadar24 told ABC News.

At least 43 people — from the plane and the fire truck — were taken to hospitals, officials said.

As the NTSB investigates the crash, NTSB chair Jennifer Homendy said there were two people in the air traffic control tower cab at the time of collision: the local controller and the controller in charge.

Two controllers is “the standard operating procedure for LaGuardia for the midnight shift,” Homendy at a news conference on Tuesday.

She said the NTSB has been concerned about fatigue from the midnight shift in past investigations, but stressed that there is no evidence of fatigue so far in this case.

LaGuardia has a runway safety system allowing air traffic controllers to track surface movement of planes and vehicles, but that system “did not alert,” Homendy said.

The analysis found that the system “did not generate an alert due to the close proximity of vehicles merging and unmerging near the runway, resulting in the inability to create a track of high confidence,” Homendy said.

There is no indication yet if the pilots saw the fire truck on the runway, Homendy said, noting that the NTSB is still analyzing the cockpit voice recorder.

Homendy said the NTSB is still working to determine what happened at the air traffic controllers’ shift change around 10:30 p.m.

“We know that that controller was still on duty for several minutes afterwards” the crash, she said, when usually they’d be relieved, so she said the NTSB is investigating if anyone was available to relieve them.

Homendy also stressed that the NTSB “rarely, if ever, investigate[s] a major accident where it was one failure” — usually “many, many things” went wrong, she said.

“Our aviation system is incredibly safe because there are multiple, multiple layers of defense built in to prevent an accident,” she explained.

One passenger on the flight, Joe, said that as the plane was landing, he noticed some emergency vehicles on the tarmac.

“Right before the impacts, we felt something, maybe like an emergency brake that was pulled, or some kind of hard stop, before we hit the truck,” Joe, who did not want to use his last name, told ABC News Live. “But prior to that, there was nothing out of the ordinary that I had noticed.”

“Because I was seated in the emergency aisle, somebody in the plane had shouted, ‘Emergency exits open,'” Joe said. “So at that time, I pulled the lever down, attached the door, put it to the side of the plane, and a few of us had exited through the emergency exit onto the wing of the plane. And FDNY and Port Authority Police directed us to slide down the wing. … It was very low to the ground and easy to get off.”

Joe, who was on the flight with his fiancé, said Monday evening that they were “pretty shaken up, still kind of in shock.”

“And just heartbroken for, obviously, the pilots, and all those that are injured,” Joe said.

He said he believes the pilots “saved many lives on that flight — and my heart’s just broken for them.”

LaGuardia shut down after the crash and slowly resumed flights at 2 p.m. Monday. The runway where the collision occurred will remain closed until 7 a.m. Friday, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

(WASHINGTON) — Strikes continued across the Middle East on Tuesday amid uncertainty over the state of talks between the U.S. and Iran, after President Donald Trump touted progress on negotiations while Tehran denied any dialogue.

Just days after he insisted there was no leadership left to talk to in Iran, Trump on Monday announced the U.S. and Iran held discussions over the weekend and as a result he was postponing major attacks he’d threatened on Tehran’s energy infrastructure.

“We have had very, very strong talks,” Trump told reporters. “We’ll see where they lead. But we have … major points of agreement.”

Steve Witkoff, White House special envoy, and Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law, led the talks for the U.S. side, according to Trump. Trump did not identify who the U.S. was negotiating with in Iran, but said it is not the new supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei.

Trump said a meeting would take place “soon.”

Iran, on the other hand, publicly denied any talks have taken place. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran’s speaker of Parliament, said Trump’s claims were an attempt to influence markets suffering from Iran’s stranglehold on the Strait of Hormuz.

The Trump administration is not confirming if and when in-person talks will take place between U.S. and Iranian officials in the coming days.

“These are sensitive diplomatic discussions, and the United States will not negotiate through the press. This is a fluid situation, and speculation about meetings should not be deemed as final until they are formally announced by the White House,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement provided to ABC News.

Pakistan has positioned itself as a mediator between the U.S. and Iran.

A Pakistani official familiar with the negotiations told ABC News that there are “several proposals” floating around regarding the next steps for talks and said an in-person meeting in Islamabad is on the table.

Trump on Tuesday shared to his social media platform a post from Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who wrote on X: “Pakistan welcomes and fully supports ongoing efforts to pursue dialogue to end the WAR in the Middle East, in the interest of peace and stability in region and beyond.”

“Subject to concurrence by US and Iran, Pakistan stands ready and honoured to be the host to facilitate meaningful and conclusive talks for a comprehensive settlement of the ongoing conflict,” Sharif’s post read.

The Pakistani official said Turkey and Egypt are also helping to facilitate the talks between the U.S. and Iran.

The official said the talks would likely take place within the next five days in accordance with Trump’s social media post — suggesting military strikes on Iranian power plants were “paused” for the next five days as Tehran and Washington engage in diplomatic negotiations. The official cautioned nothing is final as of yet.

A spokesperson for the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington declined to comment. The Egypt and Turkish embassies have not responded to requests for comment.

The Turkish foreign minister said last Thursday that his country was talking to both the U.S. and Iran to understand where the two nations stand.

The State Department referred to the White House when asked if Witkoff, Kushner and Vice President JD Vance were expected to travel to Islamabad later this week to meet with Iranian officials, as Reuters has reported. Vance’s office has not responded to a request for comment.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday said he had spoken with Trump, and said Trump believes there “is an opportunity to leverage the tremendous achievements we have attained with the U.S. military to realize the war’s objectives in an agreement — an agreement that will safeguard our vital interests.”

In the meantime, Netanyahu said Israel will “continue to strike both in Iran and in Lebanon. We are crushing the missile program and the nuclear program, and continue to inflict severe blows on Hezbollah.”

President Trump earlier Monday said that Israel would be “very happy” when asked if he believed Israel would abide by a negotiated peace deal.

Meanwhile, thousands more U.S. Marines and several Navy ships are heading to the Middle East, and the Pentagon is seeking $200 billion in supplemental funding.

Cardi B has been performing in sold-out arenas as part of her Little Miss Drama tour, reportedly going against doctor’s orders.

In Allure‘s March issue, she revealed that she was told to slow down in January after a physician found her hormone levels were elevated. Instead, she stuck with her plan to go on her first tour in seven years.

“I just want to do everything now,” she said. “I told myself I needed two years of being uncomfortable so I could be comfortable. Things just change every single f****** day. And it’s like, This is your moment. This is the time to do it.”

She added, “I want to give my fans a good moment and have been pulling strings to make this s*** happen, and it’s turning out beautiful.”

Cardi is set to perform back-to-back shows at Madison Square Garden Wednesday and Thursday. Ahead of that, she’s giving fans in her hometown of the Bronx a preview of her Grow-Good Beauty hair care line via a tour bus designed to resemble a beauty supply store. It will be open Tuesday until 6 p.m. ET.

In the Allure story, Cardi noted her goal with the hair care line is to build a loyal customer base. “People are gonna buy my s*** just off my name, but are you gonna come back? It’s about coming back,” she said.

Noting the stakes are higher with beauty products, she added, “A bad song is not gonna f*** up your life. Imagine you put some s*** into your hair, and you damage it, and I’m responsible?! Never.”

Grow-Good Beauty launches on April 15.

On May 15, fans will get a glimpse of the making of the album with the release of The Pet Sounds Sessions Highlights, featuring material from the 1997 four-CD box set The Pet Sounds Sessions. The new release contains 25 alternate takes, a cappella versions and tracking sessions, all of which are making their vinyl debut.

The Pet Sounds Sessions Highlights will be released as a two-CD set or two-LP set. The LP versions will be released on standard black vinyl and limited-edition splatter/color variants. Also on May 15, the original 90-track The Pet Sounds Sessions will be released to digital services.

As a preview of the new set, a three-track EP featuring different versions of the Pet Sounds song “Sloop John B” is out now.

The Pet Sounds 60th anniversary will also be celebrated with the release of a Vinylphyle Edition of the album on 180-gram black vinyl, and cut from the original mono and stereo analog tapes. Interscope-Capitol’s Definitive Sound Series will also release a limited-edition pressing of 6,000numbered copies of the album in the original mono configuration.

Released May 16, 1966, Pet Sounds is often considered one of the best albums of all time. Recorded a year after Brian Wilson quit touring and suffered a breakdown in 1964, the album featured such classic Beach Boys songs as “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” “God Only Knows” and “Sloop John B.”

The album peaked at #10 on the Billboard Album chart; in 2004 it was chosen by the Library of Congress for inclusion in the National Recording Registry.

More Harry Potter is headed our way.

HBO has shared a new image of Dominic McLaughlin in costume as the titular wizard from its upcoming Harry Potter TV series.

The photo finds Harry walking toward the quidditch pitch at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry while wearing the signature Gryffindor quidditch robes. His robe bears his last name on the back, as well as his player number, which is seven.

A large group of Hogwarts students is gathered ahead of him entering the pitch, which is decorated with flags representing both the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff houses. There’s also a flag supporting Fred Weasley and George Weasley, the older brothers of Harry’s best friend Ron Weasley.

The photo is captioned “Tomorrow” alongside a lightning bolt emoji, a reference to Harry’s forehead scar. This tease has fans assuming even more will be released about the upcoming show within the next 24 hours.

HBO shared first-look photos of McLaughlin in costume as Harry Potter and Nick Frost in costume as Hagrid in July 2025. The photos were released the same week cameras officially started rolling on the series as it began production at the Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, England, the same location where all eight of the Harry Potter films were made.

McLaughlin leads the cast alongside Alastair Stout and Arabella Stanton, who play Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.

The upcoming HBO show is described as a faithful adaptation of the books by J.K. Rowling, who serves as an executive producer on the series. Multiple seasons of the show are planned, with each one bringing the Harry Potter characters on new adventures.

The Harry Potter series will premiere on HBO and HBO Max in 2027.

By now, most fans know that the boy band phenomenon of the late ’90s and early 2000s had a dark side, and it’s on display in a new documentary called Boy Band Confidential, part of Investigation Discovery’s Hollywood Demons series. It streams April 13 and April 14 on ID.

*NSYNC’s Joey Fatone is the executive producer of the doc, and he says in a statement, “Being in a boy band was one of the greatest experiences of my life but it also came with challenges we didn’t always understand at the time. Among those who tell their stories in the doc: Joey’s bandmate Lance Bass; Backstreet Boys’ AJ McLean; 98 Degrees’ Nick Lachey and Jeff Timmons; Boyz II Men’s Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockman; LFO’s Brad Fischetti; and O-Town’s Ashley Parker Angel.

In the trailer, which Joey shared on Instagram, Ashley says, “I was sitting on the 38th-floor balcony of my New York apartment and I just thought about jumping off.”

According to a press release, the doc delves into the “systemic exploitation” of boy band members, as well as “the pressures, the power struggles and the darker realities behind the scenes.”

“Very excited about this project!!! a lot of stories some people know and some people don’t,” Joey wrote on Instagram.

Ciara and husband Russell Wilson attended the Fashion Scholarship Fund gala Monday with daughter Sienna Princess Wilson and son Future Zahir Wilburn. In an interview with USA Today, Ciara explained why she decided to bring them along.

“Clearly, they have a lot of energy, but it makes us so happy that they can see us in moments like this, you know, because they are the future,” she said.

“We want them to be inspired in rooms like this, and see mommy and dad do what they do … they’re also going to go back to doing homework in a second,” she continued. “We’re staying focused around here.”

Ciara and Russell were honored at the gala for their contributions to fashion and philanthropy, as well as their commitment to being inspirations to the youth. While accepting the honor, according to Vogue, Ciara encouraged students to continue despite experiencing setbacks, which she described as “your beauty marks in the making.” Russell added, “I think it first starts with showing people that your language matters and what you say to yourself and what you say to others matters.” They also talked about their Why Not You Foundation and the opportunities that it creates.

Law Roach and Stefan Larsson were also honored at the event, while Travis Scott, who supports FSF through The Cactus Jack Design Ethos Scholarship Program, made a surprise appearance.

“Keep pushing the limits. Always put yourself out there,” he said, according to Vogue. “Even if you don’t trust your ideas, just go with your gut and you’ll figure it out.”
