Ahead of their performances at the much-anticipated When We Were Young festival this weekend, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and The Used have shared new releases.

RJA has premiered a “Symphonic Edition” of the band’s 2006 single “Face Down.” The updated recording, which replaces the pop punk guitars of the original with sweeping orchestration, is being released now in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and in partnership with DomesticShelters.org.

“‘Face Down’ is a song I’d play until I’m 96 years old because it’s based on the experience of my brother and I growing up with domestic violence,” says frontman Ronnie Winter. “The number of people who’ve reached out to us since ‘Face Down’ came out is staggering and it shows just how many people experience abuse.”

Winter adds that the “Symphonic Edition” focuses on the song’s “new life she has found” lyric.

“It’s about healing and how it’s hard and messy, but it happens and it’s worth working towards,” he says.

You can listen to “Face Down (Symphonic Edition)” now via digital outlets. Its accompanying video will premiere October 28.

The Used, meanwhile, has dropped a new single called “F*** You.” The profane yet sensitive track finds frontman Bert McCracken raising a middle finger to an unnamed force “making me feel like I do.”

“F*** You” is available now via digital outlets and is accompanied by a live video featuring footage from The Used’s tour this year with Rise Against. You can watch that streaming now on YouTube.

The new track follows The Used’s 2020 album, Heartwork, which includes collaborations with Blink-182‘s Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, FEVER 333‘s Jason Aalon Butler and Beartooth‘s Caleb Shomo. A deluxe version of the record was released in 2021.
