The LOX and Dipset Verzuz was arguably one of the most entertaining battles on the series, but Jim Jones wants a rematch for a variety of reasons. In an interview with AllHipHop, he admits his group “didn’t rehearse like we was supposed to” and notes there were some other factors that could have possibly contributed to their loss.

“Last time, there was a lot going on. The venue was way too small. There were people on my back. There were people on people’s shoulders in there,” he says of the battle, which was held at the Hulu Theater.

“I think we need proper respect of doing it in the Garden, the big Garden, with proper security, set up right so everybody have breathing room,” he adds. “Not using it as no excuse, but we need a rematch for the city. I’m puttin’ it out there like Rocky after he lost to Apollo Creed … And we gonna be ready like hot spaghetti.”

Jim also suggests the potential rematch be scored by a set of judges, with some live insight from some of the fans. “Let the people vote live. Let’s do it right. Let’s really go for it,” he says.

The LOX and Dipset battle took place in August 2021, but clips often resurface on social media. The matchup was part of the Verzuz series, which will soon make its return after a brief hiatus. According to co-creator Swizz Beatz, he and co-founder Timbaland have “been changing the infrastructure” of the competition. He told Revolt that there’s “a fantastic lineup with people they wanted to see and even battles they think wouldn’t happen.”

It’s not clear if Jim’s desired rematch is part of the plan.
