The deluxe version of Council Skies, the upcoming album from Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, includes a version of the first single, “Pretty Boy,” remixed by The Cure‘s Robert Smith. While the album isn’t out until June 2, you can hear the remix now.
In a statement, Smith says, “I was surprised and delighted when Noel asked me to remix this gorgeous song, and I had a lot of fun slowing it down and spacing it out.”
He adds, “Cure drummer Jason Cooper gave me a great vibey drum track to play along with — and the rest just phased into place under the starry sky of my distant moon…”
Smith is the second iconic British new wave figure to be part of “Pretty Boy:” Ex-Smiths‘ guitarist Johnny Marr plays guitar on the original track version. Another track, “Easy Now,” is also available, with a video starring Milly Alcock of House of the Dragon fame.
Council Skies is now available for pre-order. As previously reported, Gallagher and his post-Oasis project will kick off a co-headlining tour with Garbage June 2 in Auburn, WA.
