Perry Farrell has confirmed that original Jane’s Addiction bassist Eric Avery is back in the band.

“We recorded three songs with [Avery],” Farrell tells NME. “That Jane’s rhythm section is back.”

Farrell’s comments come after the Jane’s Twitter account shared an uncaptioned video of Farrell and Avery jamming together in August.

Avery played with Jane’s from the band’s founding through their first breakup in 1991. He skipped out on reunions in the late ’90s and early 2000s before eventually rejoining Jane’s in 2008, only to leave again two years later. Since then, Chris Chaney has been the Jane’s Addiction bassist.

In addition to Avery, Farrell has also reunited with another former bandmate, Porno for Pyros bassist Martyn LeNoble. LeNoble was not in the lineup for PfP’s comeback show at the Welcome to Rockville festival earlier this year, but later rejoined the band for their summer shows, including a set at Lollapalooza.

“We all took that opportunity to not just kiss and make up, but to do some great work and we sounded really good,” Farrell says. “It’s true what they say about musicians. They get better with age.”
