A Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre collab is in the works, according to the Doggystyle rapper. He told ET the news while at the LA premiere of the new film Day Shift.
“We’re cooking up a little something,” Snoop said, teasing a joint effort with Dre. “I don’t wanna talk about it too much, but we’re back together again. It’s been 30 years since we worked on a record, and we’re doin’ something, we’re workin’ on something.”
Though it’s been a while since Dre and Snoop teamed up for some new music, their collaborations have stood the test of time, specifically for hip-hop fans. Their biggest hits include “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang,” “Still D.R.E.” and “The Next Episode.” The latter two songs were performed at the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show.
As fans wait for the rappers’ collab, they can watch Snoop’s new film, where he and longtime friend Jamie Foxx star as vampire killers.
“We’ve been friends for a long time,” Snoop said of Jamie. “So for us to both be at this part of our career, to work together and still enjoy each other’s company, that’s what it’s all about.”
Jamie added that the moment was “special” as he’s watched the progression in Snoop’s career.
“For this day to come to here, for us to see him bloom, is special. For us to see him kickin’ ass in this movie as an actor,” he said. “And at the same time, anybody could tell you Snoop is the ambassador of grace and entertainment and fun … So this moment right here means everything.”
Day Shift airs August 12 on Netflix; it’s not clear when the Dre and Snoop collab will drop.
