“You know what would make this tequila taste better?”: Brothers Osborne do shots out of their Grammy award

For several years, Brothers Osborne had an “always the bridesmaid, never the bride” kind of relationship with the Grammy Awards. They were frequent nominees, but never brought home a trophy.

That is, until this year: At the most recent Grammys, brother duo John and TJ Osborne won Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their song “Younger Me.”

This week, the bandmates received their official trophy in the mail. Given their history at the awards show, they knew they had to do something extra special with their new piece of hardware. So they brought it to a family get-together, and all their relatives took turns doing tequila shots out of the golden gramophone.

Brothers Osborne documented the fun on their Instagram Stories, starting with their mom, who holds up the trophy and brags about her sons’ accomplishment to the camera. “About time they got a Grammy. They were well-deserved to win a Grammy long before now,” she says, before planting a kiss on the award.

Next, John pours a shot of tequila into the award, as TJ comes up and jokes, “You know what would make this tequila taste better? Drinking it out of a Grammy.”

Everyone gets in on the fun, including the bandmates’ significant others. John’s wife, Lucie Silvas, a singer-songwriter, takes a shot, while TJ’s boyfriend, Abi Ventura, also does a shot.

On their main feed, the duo posted an up-close look at their new hardware. “2 kids from lower middle class glory did it,” they write in the caption. “Beyond honored.”
