Nominations for 2022 Stellar Gospel Music Awards announced; CeCe Winans leads the pack

Nominations for the 2022 Stellar Gospel Music Awards have been announced, and CeCe Winans is leading the pack. The singer’s live Believe For It album has earned her a total of nine nods, including artist of the year, song of the year and album of the year.

Pastor Mike Jr. follows closely behind CeCe with eight nods. He’s nominated for artist of the year, producer of the year, album of the year, male artist of the year and song of the year — all connected to his work on I Got It: Single’s Ministry Vol. 1which was released last August.

Tamela MannJonathan McReynolds & Mali MusicTodd Dulaney, Kelontae Gavin, Maverick City Music, Israel Houghton, Ricky Dillard, E. Dewey Smith and Jason Clayborn & The Atmosphere Changers were also named as nominees.

As for the night’s special honors, Grammy winner Aaron Lindsey will receive the Aretha Franklin icon award, Candi Staton will be gifted the legends award — named after gospel star Dr. Bobby Jones — and Ricky Dillard will be honored with the lifetime achievement award.

The 37th iteration of the Stellar Gospel Music Awards will take place at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta on July 16. Jekalyn Carr and Kierra Sheard will co-host the show, which will feature performances from Tye Tribbett, Marvin Sapp, Chrisette Michele, James Fortune and more.
