Rob Zombie is super proud of his upcoming film version of The Munsters, based on the beloved 1960s sitcom. It’s currently shooting in Budapest, Hungary, and Zombie took to Instagram to show off the intricate sets for the film, about a monstrous family living at 1313 Mockingbird Lane, surrounded by their “normal” neighbors.
“These sets are going to be absolutely insane,” Zombie captioned the photos, which show a living room with a coffin-shaped cabinet, a room decorated with skulls and melted candles, a bat-wing chair and another coffin surrounded by black wreaths.
Jeff Daniel Phillips, who’ll be playing Herman Munster in the movie, commented, “The Budapest Production Designer & her Art Department went so beyond expectations — just so detailed, lush & gothic, can’t wait until audiences see their work!”
Zombie’s wife, Sheri Moon Zombie, will play Lily Munster, Herman’s wife. The cast also includes Lost actor Jorge Garcia, Cassandra Peterson, aka Elvira, and Sylvester McCoy, who played the Seventh Doctor in the long-running British sci-fi series Doctor Who.
Recently, Zombie confirmed that The Munsters would be rated PG for “macabre and suggestive material, scary images and language,” and that it would not, as many assumed, be “dirty, violent and nasty.”
