It’s been nearly a year since Kim Kardashian filed for divorce, but her soon-to-be ex, Kanye West, now legally known as Ye, has some objections to her recent request to the court to declare her legally single.
According to court documents obtained by ABC News, Kanye has filed an opposition to Kim’s request, stating that it should be denied without prejudice so that Kim can refile it with Ye’s “corrections and requested conditions.” Essentially, Kanye is arguing Kim didn’t tick all of the legal boxes in submitting his request, though he also has some other concerns.
Among the things that Ye is requesting: He wants Kim to “waive marital privilege” until they’ve reached a final custody agreement concerning their four kids, as well as a finalized property agreement. Waiving that privilege means that all communications between her and Ye would be part of court record.
Ye also wants Kim to waive marital privilege if she remarries, so the court would be able to access any conversations they might have about custody. Additionally, he wants his assets to be safeguarded, and he’s concerned about what would happen if Kim remarries before the divorce is finalized.
A hearing has been scheduled for next month to address Kim’s legal marital status.
