In a heartbreaking turn of events, Scotty McCreery revealed that both of his grandmothers, Janet Cooke and Paquita McCreery, passed away on Wednesday.

Scotty addressed his grief in a post on Instagram

“My heart is absolutely broken,” he said. “I think I am still in a bit of shock as I type this, but I’m choosing to remember the great memories we all made with both of them.”

“There really are too many to count,” he continued. “From being on the farm in Elizabeth City or visiting the Outer Banks with Grandma Janet.. And then the incredible memories we made at the backyard pool in Pinehurst, all the way to visiting Puerto Rico with Grandma Paquita. Both of them truly taught me what love is all about. I will miss them dearly. If y’all could keep my family in your prayers I’d appreciate it.”

Included with the post was a picture of both women with Scotty and his wife, Gabi McCreery, at their 2018 wedding.

Scotty didn’t reveal any further details.

Rob Thomas has a new solo album on the way.

The Matchbox Twenty frontman announced his sixth solo effort, All Night Days, and released two new tracks off the album Friday. The lead single “Hard to Be Happy” and the acoustic B-side “Thrill Me” are both out now.

Of “Hard to Be Happy,” Rob says, “The song itself is very no-filler. It shows, ‘It’s alright to be unhappy,’ but it’s wrapped up in a happy tune. The message is, ‘I’m going to be fine, but leave me alone for this second!’”

All Night Days will be released Sept. 5, marking Rob’s first release on Universal Records.

“I hope you see yourself in my music,” Rob says of the album. “The great songs I listen to are the ones where I’m the hero of the story in my head, even if I don’t know the writer. There are a lot of ‘Saturday Night’ and ‘Sunday Morning’ songs on All Night Days. Maybe one of these tunes becomes a part of your life.”

He’ll embark on a headlining tour of the U.S., Australia and New Zealand in support of the album, kicking off Aug. 1 in Atlanta, Georgia.

On This Day, July 11, 1975…

Fleetwood Mac released their self-titled 10th studio album, often referred to as The White Album. The record was the band’s first release with Lindsey Buckingham on guitar and Stevie Nicks on vocals.

The album, their second self-titled release following their 1968 debut, went to #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart but took a long time to get there, peaking in the top spot 58 weeks after it first entered the chart.

It featured three hit singles: “Over My Head,” and the future classics “Rhiannon” and “Say You Love Me,” with the latter two just narrowly missing the Top 10.

The White Album went on to be certified seven-times Platinum by the RIAA.

Rockers 38 Special are set to release their first new album in over two decades.

The band, known for such hits songs as “Hold on Loosely” and “Caught up in You,” will release the new album Milestone on Sept. 19. The first single, “All I Haven’t Said,” is out now.

“That’s my throwback to the ’60s, inspired by bands like the Searchers,” frontman and co-founder Don Barnes, who co-produced the album, says of the song. “I’ve always loved that jangling guitar sound and what’s old is new again. We just inject more power guitars to it.”

The album features songs co-written by Train’s Pat Monahan, Bachman-Turner Overdrive’s Randy Bachman and the band’s longtime collaborator Jim Peterik, who also co-produced the record.

Milestone is the first new music from 38 Special since their 2004 release, Drivetrain.

“After all this time, we wanted to create a more modern 38 Special album,” Barnes shares. “This is a fresh, updated approach to the sound we’ve been making together for so long. Why not make a big statement after all these years? When you’re reintroducing yourself to the world, ‘good enough’ doesn’t work anymore. If you’re gonna do it, you might as well go big.”

Milestone is available for preorder now.

38 Special is currently on the road with Kansas. Their next show is Friday in Prior Lake, Minnesota. A complete list of dates can be found at 38special.com.
