Scotty McCreery‘s first EP, Scooter & Friends, takes its title from his nickname back home in North Carolina, but it also shows a different side of the American Idol winner.

“I had a lot of fun creating this EP and performing some songs that are different from my normal sound, yet are still me,” he says. “Getting to record with Hootie & the Blowfish, Lee Brice, and my hero Charlie Wilson on songs that I co-wrote with some of my favorite songwriters has been a blast.”

You can check out the five-song collection now, which also includes the solo tunes “Swim Up Bar” and “Holding Down the Honky Tonk,” as well as his current hit with Darius Rucker and his Hootie bandmates, “Bottle Rockets.”

As a mother of four, Ciara knows how it feels to be ready to push a baby out into the real world. It’s a feeling she says compares to what she’s experiencing now about her upcoming eighth studio album, Cici.

“I feel like this album is my baby, and I’m ready to get it out,” she tells Entertainment Tonight, before sharing what fans should expect.

“Just get ready to have fun and dance,” she says. “All I want you to do is dance and love, and have the best time and feel inspired, and all that good stuff.”

Cici will arrive on Aug. 22, nearly 21 years after the release of her debut album — but Ciara still feels like she is in her Goodies era.

“It’s 21 years since my first album, and I just feel so blessed to have been doing it this long and to still have people that love what I’m doing and cheer for me, and I just feel so grateful,” she says. “I have an attitude of gratitude. It’s a season of gratefulness for me, so that’s what the Cici album is all about.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Ciara talked about a surprise trip she took with husband Russell Wilson to celebrate their ninth wedding anniversary.

“Russ planned the most beautiful surprise trip. I didn’t know I was going to Spain,” she says. “I got to practice my Spanish. I was in my element, like, having the best time.”

She shares that they went with a group of friends who were also celebrating wedding anniversaries.

“We had really great real conversations that I think you have to have as couples,” Ciara says. “[It] lets you know we’re not all crazy. We all have different feelings, man and woman.”

She adds they also enjoyed “good food, good music, love.”

Alkaline Trio has dropped a new single called “Oblivion.”

The track was produced by Travis Barker and also marks Alkaline Trio’s first release to feature drummer Atom Willard, who previously played in bands including Against Me! and Angels & Airwaves. Their most recent album, 2024’s Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs, was their last to feature longtime drummer Derek Grant.

Oblivion” is one of three song Alkaline Trio recorded with Barker. Frontman Matt Skiba, of course, is very familiar with Barker, having played in blink-182 during Tom DeLonge‘s absence from the band.

“Recording with Alkaline Trio was such a treat,” says Barker. “Bringing these songs to life from the demos Matt recorded was so exciting. Both Matt and [bassist] Dan [Andriano] are incredible lyricists, two of my all-time favorites. The studio never feels like work, just a magical place to create.”

He adds, “Excited for what’s ahead for Alkaline Trio and for fans to hear these special songs we made.”

Alkaline Trio will be supporting blink-182’s Missionary Impossible tour, kicking off in August.

Megan Thee Stallion loves boyfriend Klay Thompson‘s kindness, and it appears he admires that same quality in her. Speaking to US Weekly on the red carpet of Meg’s inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation gala, he shared that he was honored to support the rapper while highlighting her generosity and influence on others.

“Well, it feels incredible because Megan is such a special person and she inspires so many around the world,” Klay said. “This is just another incredible feat of hers to be able to give back, create a foundation, and raise a ton of money for those in need. And I’m honored to be here by her side.”

He said he would have loved to meet Meg’s parents, Holly Thomas and Joseph Pete, after whom her foundation is named.

“I know both of them would be so proud of their only daughter because of what—not only what she’s been able to accomplish, what she’s also going to continue to do,” Klay said. “She has never been put in a box or allowed herself to be in a box.”

Megan announced that the gala raised over $1.2 million to further the foundation’s work, which includes providing resources to women and children, senior citizens and underserved communities in Houston and around the world, with a focus on education, housing, health and wellness, and community goodwill.

Sublime has released a new single called “Ensenada,” marking the band’s first all-original track with Jakob Nowell, the son of late frontman Bradley Nowell.

The track will appear on an upcoming new Sublime album, their first since 1996’s hit self-titled effort.

“‘Ensenada’ and the new music we’re working on is inspired by old Sublime material,” Jakob says. “You can’t match something from that ’90s era – it was such a moment in time. This feels like an epilogue, a thank you to all of the fans and everyone who’s supported Sublime.”

He continues, “Our goal with ‘Ensenada’ was not to replicate anything, but from my perspective its more like a tribute to my uncles [drummer] Bud [Gaugh] and [bassist] Eric [Wilson] and the inspiration they give me. It’s organic and we have a good time.”

You can watch the video for “Ensenada” on YouTube.

Sublime broke up in 1996 following Bradley’s death. Jakob played his first show with Gaugh and Wilson in 2023, and the trio began touring together as Sublime in 2024.

In between, Gaugh and Wilson formed the offshoot band Sublime with Rome alongside singer Rome Ramirez, which has since disbanded.

BIGHIT MUSIC

If you’ve never seen BTS live, you can at least feel like you have with their new live album. PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – LIVE is out now.

The album captures some of the highlights from their PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE tour, during which they performed 12 shows across Seoul, Los Angeles and Las Vegas in 2021.

There are 22 tracks on the album, including hits “Dynamite,” “Butter” and “Permission to Dance.” Many of the songs feature new arrangements that were special to the tour.

In addition to the live tracks, the album includes a digital code for BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – SEOUL where fans can access a video compilation of the group’s performances from the final night of their three-night stand at Seoul’s Olympic Stadium, which took place in March 2022.

Earlier this month, the K-pop superstars announced they’ll be returning with new music and a world tour in spring 2026. BTS has been on hiatus since 2022, allowing all seven members — JinSuga, J-HopeRMJiminV and Jung Kook — to serve their mandatory military service in South Korea.
