Hardy’s ‘COUNTRY! COUNTRY’ (Big Loud)

There’s long been talk about “Bro Country” in Music City, and now HARDY and ERNEST are weighing in.

“There’s a whole new crew in Nashville that’s bringing a whole new different sound and this song is simply an observation of that,” HARDY says of the new track he co-wrote with ERNEST.

“HARDY is such a clever writer—one of the best to ever do it,” ERNEST says. “It’s been fun growing with him since our days of writing with Florida Georgia Line and many others. I am very thankful for them, the summers we all had together and the opportunities that got us here.”

“I think this is a cool song that shows the ever-changing nature of music,” he adds, “and I’m glad I got to sing on it with HARDY.”

Known for frequently taking writers out on the road with them back in the day, FGL recorded songs like “Dig Your Roots” by ERNEST and “Simple” by HARDY.

“Bro Country” is the latest preview of HARDY’s COUNTRY! COUNTRY! album, which drops Sept. 26. Just two days before, he closes his JIM BOB World Tour with his first headlining show at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

T-Pain and GloRilla were presented with special honors at the 2025 R&B/Hip-Hop Awards, presented by the performing rights organization BMI Thursday in LA.

T-Pain received the BMI President’s Award in recognition of his career and his global impact: He’s sold over 50 million singles and has scored a string of #1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Over the years, he’s won 28 BMI Awards. He follows past President’s Award winners Taylor Swift, Pink, Benny Blanco and more.

Accepting the award, T-Pain noted, “Enjoy these moments but don’t let these define you. Make sure you find your own happiness; make sure you find what you have already inside you.” He added, “Every journey has a beginning, a middle and an end. … Don’t let anybody dictate your time and how fast you get to the finish line. Let yourself be your own time measurement.”

He also thanked his team, his mom and everyone “who’s had to deal with my s*** for the last 20 years.”

GloRilla received the BMI Impact Award for being a “transformative force in hip-hop.” Accepting the honor, she said, “Keep y’all’s foot on the gas. Don’t let nobody tell y’all what y’all can’t do. Because it’s a lot of people that tell me what I can’t do and” — she then stopped talking and struck a pose on the stage while the audience cheered.

Glo was also named BMI’s R&B/Hip-Hop songwriter of the year, thanks to her hits “TGIF,” “Wanna Be” and “Yeah Glo!” Kendrick Lamar‘s “Not Like Us” was named song of the year.

System of a Down‘s Serj Tankian has shared a cover of the song “A Seed,” originally by DJ and producer deadmau5.

The track will appear on Tankian’s upcoming compilation album, Covers, Collaborations & Collages.

“‘A Seed’ begins with a haunting piano intro that opens itself to a polyrhythmic trip; a carousel that has no beginning or end,” Tankian says. “The lyrics are derived from Cool Gardens – my first book of poetry.”

Covers, Collaborations & Collages consists of just that, with “collages” referring to previously unreleased archival recordings. It’s due out Oct. 24, and Tankian will be putting out a new song from the collection each week.

Meanwhile, Tankian is currently playing a run of North American stadium shows with System of a Down, which resumes Sunday at Chicago’s Soldier Field.

Sabrina Carpenter talks album cover controversy, Barry Keoghan, Taylor Swift and more
‘CBS Mornings’ co-host Gayle King spoke with Sabrina Carpenter about her new album ‘Man’s Best Friend’ (CBS News)

Sabrina Carpenter‘s album cover for Man’s Best Friend has raised quite a bit of controversy — but according to Sabrina, people just don’t get it.

Speaking to Gayle King on CBS Mornings Friday, Sabrina said she was “shocked” by the reaction, noting that everyone in her circle, including her parents, thought the photo was “perfect” for what the album represents. However, she agrees the message of the image is “up to interpretation.”

For her part, she explains, “My interpretation is being in on the control. Being in on your lack of control and when you want to be in control. Like, I think as a young woman, you’re just as aware of when you’re in control as when you’re not. And I think some of those are choices.”

“For me, this whole album was about the humanity of allowing yourself to make those mistakes, knowing when you’re putting yourself in a situation that will probably end up poorly. But it’s gonna teach you something.”

King also asked Sabrina about how her romantic partners feel about being the subjects of her songs — and specifically, if Sabrina felt bad about the fact that her fans subjected her ex-boyfriend Barry Keoghan to online abuse after they split up.

While acknowledging that that happened, Sabrina tells King, “I feel pretty transparent going into any of my relationships, that I write songs. And, and I think they’re just as down for it … most of the time they’ve been pretty flattered when they get a song written about them, good or bad. I think they’re just excited to get a shout-out.”

Sabrina also tells King that she’s “so happy” for her friend Taylor Swift following her engagement. As for her guest appearance on Taylor’s upcoming album, Sabrina says, “I’m just so thrilled and honored.”
