The Silverlake Conservatory of Music, the music education organization cofounded by Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, has released a new EP, this time paying tribute to Flea’s own band.

Our Loving Tribute to Red Hot Chili Peppers, produced by Flea and Merck Mercuriadis, features four songs: “Subway to Venus,” from 1989’s Mother’s Milk; “Sick Love,” from 2016’s The Getaway; “Hump de Bump,” from 2006’s Stadium Arcadium; and “Soul to Squeeze,” from their 2003 Greatest Hits album.

All songs on the EP are performed by the SCM All-Stars, described as the “Conservatory’s ensemble of outstanding student musicians.”

“The kids! I’m so grateful that our music can be a vehicle for their spirits to fly. This is what music is for. I am so proud of them,” Flea says. Frontman Anthony Kiedis adds, “I can’t think of anyone I’d rather be tributized by. Student musicians are the best. Let’s all take a listen to how they interpret these tunes.”

Our Loving Tribute to Red Hot Chili Peppers is available now to stream or download, with proceeds benefiting the Silverlake Conservatory.

The Chili Peppers EP is the third and final EP to be released by the organization this year. Previous EPs paid tribute to the Pretenders and Neil Young.

Ledisi teamed with Gregory Porter for “You Got What It Takes.” It’s their remake of the song by Brook Benton and Dinah Washington, who Ledisi honors with her forthcoming album, For Dinah. “‘You’ve Got What It Takes’ was a must for the For Dinah project,” says Ledisi. “The original was a pop/r&b hit in the [’60s], so I wanted to keep that loose, playful energy and mirror some of what Dinah displayed on the original.”

Pharrell reunited with the Voices of Fire choir for OPHANIM, following 2023’s “JOY (Unspeakable).” It features lead single “Miracle Worker” and collaborations with John LegendQuavoCeeLo Green and more. Pharrell and the choir will perform at Grace for the World in Vatican City Saturday. The live concert will stream on Hulu, Disney+ and ABC News Live.

Jermaine Dupri‘s new album, Magic City, arrives in conjunction with the finale of the docuseries he executive produced on Starz, Magic City: An American Fantasy. “From celebrating Rich Homie Quan to working with CeeLo on ‘Atlanna,’ this project honors the city’s past, present, and future,” he said. “This album is bigger than music. It’s about honoring a movement that started in Atlanta.”

Ice Cube follows 2024’s Man Down with Man Up. “I’ve always stood on speaking truth to power and making music that reflects reality,” Cube said in a statement, according to Billboard. “Man Up is about accountability, resilience, and reminding people where the real problems come from. Hip hop didn’t create the struggle — it gave us the language to call it out.”

When Olivia Rodrigo found out there had been an all-female touring festival in the ’90s, she was in “disbelief.” That’s one thing you’ll learn by watching the trailer for the new Hulu documentary Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery – The Untold Story.

In the trailer, Lilith Fair co-founder Sarah McLachlan describes the impetus for creating the all-female festival. “Promoters said, ‘You can’t put two women on the same bill. People won’t come,'” she says. “That’s complete b*******. And it put a huge fire under my butt to prove them wrong.”

“There wasn’t a lot of support for women,” recalls Lilith Fair artist Sheryl Crow in the trailer. “We weren’t able to do what we knew we could do.”

“Lilith became a freight train,” notes fellow participant Jewel. “Like, holy smokes it took on a life of its own.”

We also learn that the festival received bomb threats, and televangelist Jerry Falwell criticized it for naming itself after a biblical figure considered to be a “demon.”

And Olivia will definitely make you feel old when she says in the trailer, “Finding out all of my favorite artists had played at this event — I was in disbelief that I’d never heard of it before.”

She adds, “Women singer/songwriters of the ’90s, I’m constantly looking to them for inspiration. They’re my Northern stars.”

Other stars interviewed in the film include Bonnie Raitt, Paula Cole, Emmylou Harris, Indigo Girls, Erykah Badu and Brandi Carlile.

Lilith Fair: Building a Mystery – The Untold Story premieres on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ on Sept. 21.

Disney is the parent company of ABC News and Hulu.

The Stephenville, Texas, native will play a Nov. 1 benefit at Tarleton State University to help the Erath County Junior Livestock Association. Money raised will go toward rebuilding the facilities where members of the local FFA and 4-H chapters show their animals.

“Getting up every morning before school to tend to my show hogs taught me a thing or two about discipline,” he continues. “I wouldn’t trade my time in FFA for anything, and I’m grateful to already be in a position to give back to my hometown and my community in this way. These are my people!”

Tickets for the show are on sale now.

Olivia Rodrigo and English actor Louis Partridge have been dating for almost two years, and while the actor’s resume includes the Enola Holmes films and Paddington 2, he says he’s totally fine with people simply knowing him as Olivia’s boyfriend.

Speaking to Variety, Partridge says “I can handle that” when asked about being better known for his relationship with the “vampire” singer. And as for literally being referred to as “Mr. Olivia Rodrigo,” he says he’s had that title for “a while now,” adding, “I’m very happy, and I think she is too, so all is good in our world.”

And after all, Louis has been an inspiration to Olivia. She wrote her song “So American” about their relationship, and when she headlined England’s Glastonbury Festival this summer, he fed her British references to drop onstage, like “sticky toffee pudding” and “a pint at noon.”

Partridge will star in the new version of Pride & Prejudice, as well as in House of Guinness, a historical drama series premiering on Netflix Sept. 25. Plus, he has a role in the upcoming George Clooney film Jay Kelly.

Young Thug‘s Uy Scuti album now has a release date. It is set to drop on Sept. 19.

He announced the date while sharing a song that attempts to resolve the issues stemming from comments he made in leaked jail calls.

Man I Miss My Dogs” serves as a public apology to ex Mariah the Scientist, DrakeLil BabyGucci Mane and others who were mentioned and/or affected by what he’d said about them while behind bars.

“Baby I’m sorry, one of my biggest fears is losing you to the internet/ One of my biggest fears is waking up in our bed without you right by my neck/ Saying don’t you break a sweat, pillow talking ain’t my game,” Thugger rapped to Mariah, who he’d admitted cheating on in one of the leaked jails calls.

Addressing Drake, Thug rapped, “Drizzy, you my brother/ You know I ain’t going against you/ I got manners/ Everything you did for the rap community can’t ban you/ Never diss you/ Came to visit me at Cobb County like my kin do/ F*** the jail call, you know the other calls we had.” For the uninitiated, Thug had criticized Drizzy for not using his platform to help get him released from jail.

Thugger has issued several apologies over the last few days for the leaked calls, including one to GloRilla, who he had referred to as ugly.

A diss track from Glo has since been leaked, filled with jokes about Young Thug. Recorded over the beat of Hot Styles’ 2008 song “Lookin’ A** N****,” the song also includes shots at Mariah.

In addition to listening to the song digitally, you can preorder a 12-inch vinyl featuring “Chrome Jets” on one side and a live cover of U2‘s song “Zoo Station” from a show in Berlin in 2024 on the other through Billy Corgan‘s Madame Zuzu’s tea shop. Only 1,500 copies are available.

The Pumpkins will start their Rock Invasion tour Sept. 15 in Japan.

As Gabby Barrett continues her Life I’m Living Tour Friday night in Valparaiso, Indiana, she’s fresh off a homecoming show in her native Pennsylvania.

On Sept. 6, the American Idol favorite returned to play Timber Rock Amphitheater in Farmington.

“To come back now to Pennsylvania with my family, singing these songs for people who believed in me first, that’s something that’s really special to me,” she told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “And it feels like I’m coming home to celebrate with everybody, not just perform for them. And I think Pennsylvania crowds just go harder. I do.”

“I just swear they are the loudest,” she continues. “And I think it’s because it just feels more like family when people know your roots and your story. It’s not just another show. You know, it’s pride. You feel like the whole city is pulling for you.”

Gabby recently released her new song, “The Easy Part,” with more tracks coming soon. She continues her 30-city tour through Oct. 5 in Ocean City, Maryland.

Whitney Houston‘s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)” is one of the late legend’s signature hits, and now it’s been reimagined as a ballad — and also a duet.

British singer Calum Turner has added his vocals to a stripped-down, piano version of the song, which is still in the original key, with Whitney’s original vocals. The official video features archival footage of Whitney and new footage of Calum.

Calum got invited to participate in the project because he’s been performing a chorus of “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” during his live cover of Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own.” “Lyrically, it fit perfectly, and it always got an amazing reaction from the fans,” Calum says in a statement, adding that he never expected Whitney’s estate would become aware of it and O.K. the collaboration.

He adds, “It has truly been an honor to be trusted with Whitney’s voice to reimagine her song … it was a very delicate balance, because I wanted to make sure that I paid respect and homage to an icon who’s always meant so much to me.”

Calum also got the thumbs-up from the song’s writers, George Merrill and Shannon Rubicam, who say they love the “soulful, soaring beauty of the track.”

The release is part of the 40th anniversary celebration of Whitney’s career, which started with her 1985 debut album. The new song will also be included on Calum’s upcoming album Avenoir, which is due in October.
