Miley Cyrus’ ‘Something Beautiful’ deluxe coming Friday, with two new tracks featuring rock legends

Miley Cyrus isn’t putting out just one song on Friday — she’s releasing two.

The “Flowers” star has confirmed that Friday will bring a deluxe edition of her most recent album, Something Beautiful, featuring the previously mentioned song “Secrets,” as well as another new song called “Lockdown.”

“Secrets” is the song Miley gave to her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, for his birthday that features members of Fleetwood Mac. She confirmed on Instagram which members of the group are on the track: guitarist Lindsey Buckingham and drummer Mick Fleetwood.

As for “Lockdown,” it features another Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, David Byrne of Talking Heads. Last year Miley contributed to a Talking Heads tribute album, recording her own version of one of the band’s signature songs, “Psycho Killer.”

David is making a habit of performing with young female singers: He also joined Olivia Rodrigo at Governors Ball over the summer, and his new album features a guest appearance by Hayley Williams of Paramore.

Taylor Swift to appear on ‘The Graham Norton Show’, reveals ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ cardigan

Taylor Swift has booked her first TV appearance to promote her upcoming album. Unfortunately, it’s not in the U.S.

The pop star is set to appear on the BBC’s The Graham Norton Show on Oct. 3., with the description noting she’ll be “talking about her hotly anticipated new album,” The Life of a Showgirl, which drops the same day.

The night’s other guests include Cillian Murphy, Tron: Ares stars Greta Lee and Jodie Turner-Smith, and The Paper’s Domhnall Gleeson. There will also be a performance by Lewis Capaldi.

In other Taylor news … Swift has announced a new The Life of a Showgirl sparkly orange cardigan, which is available to order until Sept. 19 at 11:59 a.m. or while supplies last. The Life of a Showgirl cardigan box set comes with an orange tonal lurex cable knit sweater that features 12 embroidered stars on the arms and a “TS” embroidered on the front. It also includes The Life of a Showgirl on CD. It’s all housed in an orange glitter gift box with a foil TS logo on top.

Aerosmith & Yungblud announce joint EP featuring ‘My Only Angel’ single

Aerosmith and Yungblud are teaming up for more than just one song.

After teasing a collaborative track called “My Only Angel,” the two acts have announced a joint EP titled One More Time. The set is due out on Nov. 21, and “My Only Angel” will premiere on Friday.

Along with “My Only Angel,” One More Time includes three other new songs Yungblud wrote with Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, plus an updated version of Aerosmith’s “Back in the Saddle.”

Yungblud performed with Tyler and Perry during the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 7 for a tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne.

Advisory committee denies Jay-Z-backed proposal for Times Square casino

Jay-Z‘s proposal to build a casino in New York City’s Times Square has been denied. Deadline reports the Community Advisory Committee voted 4-2 against the bid he submitted with Roc Nation, Caesars Palace and SL Green Properties to build a casino at 1515 Broadway.

Jason Laks, the president of The Broadway League, said in the statement that the decision will “protect the magic of Broadway for the one hundred thousand New Yorkers who depend on it for their livelihoods, and for the tens of millions who come from around the world to experience it.”

“A casino can go anywhere, but Broadway only lives here,” he continued.

The vote comes days after Jay-Z described what he saw as the casino’s benefit to the city.

“There is only one Broadway, and we respect that. This project isn’t about taking away from Broadway – it’s about strengthening it,” he told City & State New York. “Casino visitors will buy tickets, fill seats, book dinners before shows, and keep hotels in the area full. The things Broadway needs – more ticket sales, added security, cleaner streets, and jobs that support workers between shows – are what this project will make possible.”

Ready for Christmas? Brad Paisley’s already ‘Counting Down’

Brad Paisley is “Counting Down the Days” to Hallmark Channel’s 16th Countdown to Christmas.

That’s the name of the new song Brad co-wrote for the campaign, which features him prominently as he performs on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry.

Hallmark’s annual parade of holiday movies starts Oct. 17. A Grand Ole Opry Christmas will premiere over Thanksgiving weekend, on Nov. 29 at 8 p.m. ET.

Brad appears in the film and wrote two more songs for it, as well.

Bob Dylan revisits his early career with latest edition of his bootleg series, ‘Through the Open Window’

Bob Dylan is getting ready to release another installment in his bootleg series.

Bootleg Series Volume 18: Through the Open Window, 1956-1963 is described as “a unique account of Dylan’s early years, when he honed his talent, and transformed traditional folk songs and lyric sketches into some of his greatest and most enduring songs.” It will drop Oct. 31.

The eight-CD set features 139 tracks, including 48 performances that have never been released before, and 28 “super rare” cuts. Among that bonus material is unheard home recordings, studio outtakes, and performances from coffee house and nightclub shows.

The set also includes a previously unreleased recording of Dylan’s Oct. 26, 1923, concert at Carnegie Hall in its entirety, as well as a hardcover book with liner notes and over 100 photographs.

And Dylan is giving fans their first preview of the set with the song “Rocks and Gravel,” which is out now.

In addition to the eight-CD set, there will be a two-CD or four-LP highlights edition made up of 42 tracks, 18 of which have never been released before.

Bob Dylan’s Bootleg Series Volume 18: Through The Open Window, 1956-1963 is available for preorder now.

Dylan launched his bootleg series in 1991 with The Bootleg Series Vol. 1–3: Rare & Unreleased 1961–1991. His last installment, The Bootleg Series Vol. 17: Fragments: Time Out of Mind Sessions 1996–1997, was released in 2023.

Suspect arrested in auto break-in involving theft of Beyoncé’s hard drives

A suspect has been arrested in Atlanta in connection with an auto break-in that reportedly resulted in the theft of Beyoncé‘s hard drives, The Associated Press reports.

Atlanta police arrested the suspect, Kelvin Evans, following an investigation. He was booked into the Fulton County jail for violating parole and entering a vehicle with the intent to commit theft. He is being charged for the break-in of a rental vehicle Beyoncé had been traveling in with her choreographer Christopher Grant and dancer Diandre Blue.

According to Blue and Grant, the break-in took place on July 8 while they were at a local restaurant. They say they returned to find the windows of the car smashed and their personal suitcases missing. They then called police to report the incident, noting the stolen items included Apple laptops, Bey’s unreleased music and her tour files. As of this story, none of the items have been recovered.

On This Day, Sept. 17, 2024: Eagles songwriter JD Souther died at 78

On This Day, Sept. 17, 2024 …

John David “JD” Souther, solo artist and co-writer of many hits for the Eagles, died at his home in New Mexico. He was 78.

Souther co-wrote such Eagles hits as “Best of My Love,” “New Kid in Town,” “Heartache Tonight,” “Victim of Love” and “James Dean.” He also co-wrote Don Henley‘s 1990 hit “The Heart of the Matter.”

Souther had his own solo career, recorded duets with his former girlfriend Linda Ronstadt and added vocals to songs by a variety of artists, including Henley, Christopher Cross and Dan Fogelberg.

Upon hearing news of his death, the Eagles paid tribute to Souther, noting, “[W]e have lost a brother, a friend and a brilliant collaborator, and the world has lost a great songwriter.”

Foo F-AI-ghters? Uncanny valley Dave Grohl teases ‘100% real, raw, human element of rock n’ roll’

Now that Foo Fighters are officially back to playing shows, the band has released a new video celebrating their return. Or, make that an uncanny valley version of the band.

The clip, titled “A Message from Foo Fighters,” begins with what appears to be an AI-generated Dave Grohl declaring, “Hey everyone, it’s been awhile, but I’m happy to announce that Foo Fighters are coming back to bring you that 100% real, raw, human element of rock n’ roll.”

It then cuts to similarly AI-looking recreations of the other band members, often sporting an extra finger or leg, while maintaining to be “living, breathing human beings on stage.”

New drummer Ilan Rubin is also seen growing multiple extra arms.

The video’s YouTube page notes that it contains “altered or synthetic content,” and that “sound or visuals were significantly edited or digitally generated.” Clearly, the whole thing is a giant wink at the use of AI in art.

Foo Fighters played their first show in over a year on Saturday in San Luis Obispo, California, which also marked their first live performance with Rubin. They’ll launch a tour of Asia in October.

Details of new songs for Elphaba and Glinda on ‘Wicked: For Good — The Soundtrack’ revealed

For months, we’ve heard that the Wicked sequel, Wicked: For Good, would include two new songs specially written by original Wicked composer Stephen Schwartz for stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. Now we have details on those songs.

Wicked: For Good — The Soundtrack arrives Nov. 21, and it includes “No Place Like Home,” performed by Erivo as Elphaba, and “The Girl In The Bubble,” performed by Grande as Glinda. The soundtrack also features a song not previously included in the Broadway cast recording of Wicked, called “The Wicked Witch of the East.“

“I’m especially happy that the soundtrack album for Wicked: For Good has so much new music on it,” Schwartz says in a statement. “In addition to two brand new songs, there is a lot that’s new in several other existing songs. So not only listeners coming to the score for the first time, but long-time fans of the original Broadway cast album, will have a great deal to discover.”

The soundtrack will be available digitally, as well as on CD, double vinyl and double picture disc. Plus, Target, Amazon, Walmart and Barns & Noble will all have exclusive versions or variants.
