Greta Van Fleet has premiered a new single called “Play Your Games.”

According to a press release, the track is “inspired by one of their oldest demos from the band’s revisited archives” and “channels the spirit of their earliest days.”

“It’s this beautiful nature of seizing a moment,” says guitarist Jake Kiszka.

“Play Your Games” marks the first new music from Greta Van Fleet to follow their 2023 album, Starcatcher. Fans worried that Starcatcher might’ve been the band’s last album after they uploaded a video titled “Thanks for the Wild Ride” earlier in May. However, they later confirmed they were back in the studio.

Greta Van Fleet also returned to the live stage Wednesday with an underplay show at New York City’s intimate Bowery Ballroom venue.

Tom Morello has premiered a new song song called “Adjourn It.”

The track features vocals from System of a Down’s Serj Tankian and guitar from the Rage Against the Machine shredder’s son Roman Morello.

All three appear in the accompanying “Adjourn It” video alongside footage from the 1954 film Salt of the Earth.

“The film is based on a true story of Mexican-American miners fighting against labor exploitation, racism, and institutional oppression, and was made by three Hollywood executives blacklisted for their political beliefs,” the video’s description reads. “It stars real zinc miners and was one of the first ever truly independent films.”

Salt of the Earth was a powerful act of defiance in its time and more than half a century later, its themes continue to echo through today’s political climate,” the description continues. “‘Adjourn It’ channels the defiant legacy of the film reinforcing the importance of solidarity in bringing people together against fear and division.”

You can watch the “Adjourn It” video streaming now on YouTube.

The release of “Adjourn It” follows the announcement of Morello’s Power to the People Festival, taking place Oct. 3 in Columbia, Maryland. Both Morellos and Tankian are on the lineup, as well as Foo Fighters, Dave Matthews, Joan Baez, Jack Black, Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes and Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless, among others.

Bret Michaels will no longer be playing the Freedom 250 Great American State Fair.

“When this opportunity was originally presented to my team, it was described as a celebration of our country through music and a chance to honor our veterans, active military, first responders, teachers and hardworking Americans from all walks of life,” the Poison frontman writes in an Instagram post. “As the son of a veteran, and coming from a family that has proudly served, that is something I have always been honored to support.”

Michaels says that he’s “spent my entire career bringing people together through music, positivity and good vibes,” and that his concerts have “never been about politics.”

“Unfortunately, what was presented to us as a celebration of our country has evolved into something much more divisive than what I agreed to be a part of,” Michaels writes. “Concerns have also been raised regarding the safety of my fans, band, crew, family and myself, including threats that are completely unfounded and unforgivable.”

He continues, “Because of that, I have made the difficult decision to step away from this performance.”

The Great American State Fair, which was announced Wednesday, is set to take place June 25 through July 10 at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Several other announced artists have also dropped off the bill, including Morris Day and the Time, Martina McBride, The Commodores and Young MC.

(NEW YORK) — Tucker Wetmore’s career momentum continues to intensify, as his third single becomes his third #1 on the Mediabase chart: “Brunette” is sitting atop the radio ranking, following “3,2,1” and “Wind Up Missin’ You.”

“Brunette” also becomes his first #1 on the comparable Billboard Country Airplay tally.

His mom surprised him with the news he’d won the Academy of Country Music’s new male artist of the year trophy while he was in London on April 30, a revelation significant enough to trigger his disbelief.

“Overwhelmed, excited — I don’t think this is real,” he summed it up, following the May 17 ACMs in Las Vegas. “If I wake up tomorrow and it’s all fake, I wouldn’t be surprised.”

“I’m just blessed, honestly,” he added. “It’s all God. It’s all it is, is God and his blessing towards me. So, I’m just happy to be a vessel to enjoy it, you know?”

What’s next? For now, Tucker’s on HARDY’s COUNTRY! COUNTRY! Tour, before he plays the main stage during CMA Fest at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium on June 4.

He’ll kick off the second leg of The Brunette World Tour later this summer.

Joe Elliott on a new Def Leppard album: ‘We got a game plan’

It’s been four years since Def Leppard released their last album of new material, Diamond Star Halos, but it sounds like fans won’t have to wait much longer for a new record. Frontman Joe Elliott tells ABC Audio the band has recorded several songs for a new album, with plans to have it out by the end of 2026/early 2027.

“We’ve got a game plan, but it is kind of loose and we like it that way,” he says. “It’s not like we’re being told by management and labels it has to be delivered on this day.”

The band’s been touring constantly, but thanks to new technology, recording an album has been a lot easier than in the past. Elliott says the days of them all having to be in the studio together are over, which is something they learned during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

“That’s the beauty of the technology is that you never get a period where, OK, here’s the start of a recording of an album and it’s going to run for three months,” he says. “It’s just an ongoing process.”

Def Leppard wrapped their Las Vegas residency in February and will launch a European tour on June 13 in Sweden, and it doesn’t sound like they’re ready to slow down. But Elliott says the end isn’t something completely out of their minds.

“Sometimes you do think that maybe this could be the last tour, but there’s no reason for that,” he says. “I think because we like each other so much, and we like what we do, and like being on tour and playing the songs.”

He adds, “The little guy on your shoulder that keeps going, ‘You know what, it’s going to come to an end at some point,’ it’s not based in logic.”

Brent Smith hopes sprawling ‘EI8HT’ album proves that Shinedown is ‘everyone’s band’

As Brent Smith sings on Shinedown’s song “Three Six Five,” a lot can happen in a year. Well, a lot can also happen on 18 songs.

So you’ll discover on EI8HT, the aptly titled eighth studio effort from the “Second Chance” outfit. The de facto double album takes many twists and turns along the way to proving, as Smith sees it, that “Shinedown is everyone’s band.”

“I really do believe that there is something for everyone on this record,” Smith tells ABC Audio.

Unlike Shinedown’s previous two records, 2018’s ATTENTION ATTENTION and 2022’s Planet Zero, Smith says that EI8HT is not a concept album.

“These songs all belong on the same body of work, but … they don’t relate to one another,” Smith says. “Every song is its own story.”

While EI8HT might not adhere to a specific narrative, it does weave a number of related themes together throughout, including fatherhood, family, growing up and, ultimately, taking control of your own destiny.

Different sounds are used to evoke certain themes: the theatrical opener “At the Bottom” reflects the Broadway background of bassist Eric Bass’ family, while the closer “The Pilot” is a sonic representation of Shinedown’s long-running relationship with songwriter and producer Dave Bassett.

Meanwhile, the country-ish “Searchlight” soundtracks Smith’s advice to his son, and the gothic “Deep End” brings him back to being a teenager watching The Crow in theaters.

In naming such a sprawling work, Smith says he and his bandmates kept a notebook full of “ethereal” and “highbrow” potential titles, but were struck by inspiration upon seeing a piece created by art director Mark Obriski featuring the Shinedown logo combined with the word “eight.”

“I was like, ‘Let’s just call it EI8HT, ’cause that’s what it wants to be,'” Smith says.

EI8HT is out now.

Mr. “Gone Till November” is now “Mr. October,” according to his new song. Wyclef Jean has released the lead single to his upcoming album, Clef Notes. The track features G Herbo and finds Clef returning to his hip-hop roots, a genre that once served as a means of survival for him.

“G Herbo represents the voice of a generation. We’re living in an era where we must amplify reform over violence and believe in the possibility of a better future for underserved communities,” Wyclef said in a statement.

In his own statement, G Herbo reflected on collaborating with one of his longtime inspirations.

“Working with Wyclef who I call ‘Unk’ now inspired me to focus on delivery. I can’t just get on a song with him and not focus on bars and punch lines,” he said. “It’s always been a dream of mine to work with him, and now we’re on song # 2, so I must be doing something right.”

Wyclef previously appeared on G Herbo’s “Emergency,” which reworked his song with Mary J. Blige, “911.”

“Mr. October” is the first of seven tracks on the hip-hop-focused Clef Notes, which kicks off Wyclef’s ambitious Quantum Leap series. Over the next year, he plans to release a total of seven albums with seven tracks each, with every project centered on a different genre that helped shape him as an artist.

“Mr. October” is now available on streaming services.

Corinne Bailey Rae (Ulrike Rindermann)

Corinne Bailey Rae launches a tour Friday in celebration of the 20th anniversary of her 2006 self-titled debut album, which spawned the hit “Put Your Records On” and earned her four Grammy nominations. As Corinne told ABC Audio, she wanted to mark the milestone because that album everything for her.

“Going from playing in a bar to a hundred people to sort of getting a phone call from Stevie Wonder, or Prince coming to our show, or Elton John sending me champagne,” she recalls. “Those things — really that song in particular, ‘Put Your Records On’ — and the popularity of that record, it really changed my life and my work.”

“And so I knew the anniversary was coming but I wanted to do something special for it,” she adds.

As for the set list, Corrine says she plans to play the album in its entirety, adding, “We’ll maybe do like a catch-up on the end, and I’ll probably say, ‘If you have to leave for your babysitter, that’s fine. But we’re also gonna play a what you might have missed kind of thing.'”

Some parents, however, won’t have to worry about babysitters because they’re bringing their children along. According to Corrine, “Put Your Records On” has found a whole new generation of listeners.

“I’m so grateful for that,” she says, adding that she’s “so moved” that there are 7- and 9-year olds in the audience even if they don’t always make it through the whole show.

“You definitely have a lot of lovely sweet kids on the front row who are just nodding off by the time you get to ‘Put Your Records On,'” she says. “And their mum’s, like, poking them: ‘This is why you came!’ And sometimes they wake up and sometimes they don’t.”

People who you’d assume would be invited to Taylor Swift’s wedding have been cagey about whether or not they’re actually attending. Talk show host Graham Norton has joked that he had to sign an NDA, for example, and Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid said he’d “probably” been invited and would go “if I don’t outgrow my tuxedo.” But now we’ve got our first case of a celebrity confirming that she’s actually attending the nuptials.

Model, actress and singer Suki Waterhouse, who opened for Taylor during the Eras Tour in London, tells Variety, “I’m gonna go to Taylor’s wedding, and maybe I’ll get some inspiration. It will be amazing.” Suki was talking about her own wedding to her partner, Robert Pattinson. The two share a 2-year-old daughter.

Sadly, Suki didn’t reveal where and when the wedding is taking place. But she did say of Taylor, “Knowing her as a friend, she’s actually been through so much. And I think the thing I always see in her is how she pulls herself through every time, and how everything that’s ever happened to her becomes another piece of art that becomes part of the legacy. That’s so inspiring — that’s the artist that you want to be.”

Suki’s third album, Loveland, comes out July 10. Her collaborators include Taylor’s frequent collaborator Aaron Dessner and legendary Fleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood. Suki starred in Daisy Jones & the Six, the Prime Video series about a band loosely based on Fleetwood Mac.
