U2 releases ‘Songs of Surrender’ version of “With or Without You”

U2 has dropped a new track from their upcoming album, Songs of Surrender. This time, they’re treating fans to their new take on The Joshua Tree classic “With or Without You.”

U2 will release Songs of Surrender, containing “40 Songs. Reimagined and rerecorded,” on March 17. Curated and produced by the Edge, each song on the album is a completely new recording, with new arrangements and in some cases new lyrics.

“Most of our work was written and recorded when we were a bunch of very young men. Those songs mean something quite different to us now,” Edge shares about the project. “Some have grown with us. Some we have outgrown. But we have not lost sight of what propelled us to write those songs in the first place. The essence of those songs is still in us.”

“With or Without You” was the lead single off U2’s iconic 1987 album, The Joshua Tree, and went on to become their first number one in the United States.

Fall Out Boy teases Wrigley Field & Fenway Park concerts

After playing a small hometown concert at Chicago’s Metro club this week, Fall Out Boy is now teasing shows in much, much bigger venues.

In a tweet Thursday night, the “Dance, Dance” outfit shared a video featuring shots of Chicago’s Wrigley Field and Boston’s Fenway Park baseball stadiums. The clip also includes footage of Los Angeles and New York City’s Forest Hills Stadium.

The caption for the video reads, “Big news coming soon.”

Earlier this week, Fall Out Boy revealed that a tour announcement would be made “soon.”

Meanwhile, Fall Out Boy is prepping the release of a new album, So Much (for) Stardust, due out March 24. The follow-up to 2018’s M A N I A features the singles “Love from the Other Side” and “Heartbreak Feels So Good.”

The Jonas Brothers reveal next album will include influences from ’70s music, the Bee Gees

The Jonas Brothers have shared why they’re taking their time with their next album: they want it to honor their age-diverse fan base.

“There are so many different generations,” Nick Jonas told Variety. “How do we make an album that speaks to all those different walks of life and ages?”

Joe Jonas said this project is different because they have all become fathers since their last effort. “I think about the fact that our kids will listen to this music,” he expressed.

They credit their producer, artist Jon Bellion, for cracking the code for their new musical direction. “The key to Jon’s initial pitch was bringing in influences from the ’70s, but with a really modern edge to it. We wanted to find a way to tell stories that are universal but also ultra personal,” said Nick.

Kevin Jonas revealed their new work has a few nods to the Bee Gees, a trio of brothers who are arguably some of the biggest stars of their era. “They were a huge influence in our lives, growing up and listening to them with our father,” he said. “And obviously, as we grew up being three brothers in a band, we definitely understood similarities.”

They also credit the pandemic for making them press pause on the follow-up to their 2019 album, Happiness Begins. “It provided more time for us to zone in on exactly what we wanted to say with this body of work and what felt like the right musical tone,” Nick said.

While they have yet to reveal a release date, fans are hoping the brothers will provide some details when they unveil their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on January 30.

Joe joked of the star’s placement, “I hope we have good neighbors.”

Daniel Caesar, “Do You Like Me” — Produced by Caesar, Raphael Saadiq and Dylan Wiggins, the track sees Daniel singing about his insecurities in a romantic relationship. He says it’s “a song about a woman I respect deeply … 90 degrees of a love triangle.”

Rae Sremmurd, “Sucka or Sum” — The song follows December’s release of “Torpedo” and may appear on the long-teased SremmLife 4 album.

Busta Rhymes ft. Bilal, “Murda” — The stars connect for the track, which will be featured on the soundtrack for the upcoming season of Godfather Of Harlem.

Latto, “Smoking on My Ex Pack (Freestyle)” — The rapper dropped some bars to SZA’s “Smoking on My Ex Pack,” which she says on Instagram is “my fav song right now.” It’s earned praise from the singer, who commented, “OH ITS UPPPPPP.”

Flo Milli, “Conceited (Remix)” featuring Lola Brooke and Maiya Don — Flo tapped Lola and Maiya to add to her song “Conceited,” released last year as part of her album You Still Here, Ho?

Lil Yachty, Let’s Start Here — As warned, the album finds the rapper trying his hand at psychedelic rock. It features Justine Skye, Daniel Caesar, Fousheé, Teezo Touchdown and Diana Gordon.

Popcaan, Great is He — The dancehall artist’s project features Burna Boy, the previously released “We Caa Done” with Drake and more.

Twisted Sister members reunite for Metal Hall of Fame induction

Twisted Sister was back onstage together for the first time in over six years this week. The band, fronted by Dee Snider, reunited Thursday for the sixth annual Metal Hall of Fame gala, which took place at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, California.

The band was among this year’s inductees, along with Raven, Lou Gramm, Doug Aldrich and Chris Impellitteri, with Steve Vai and Mike Portnoy on hand to welcome them into the Hall.

Consequence reports that Snider, bassist Mark Mendoza and guitarist Jay Jay French, joined by Portnoy on drums, treated the sold-out crowd to a three-song set that included “You Can’t Stop Rock ‘n’ Roll,” “Under the Blade” and their classic “We’re Not Gonna Take it.” Guitarist Eddie Ojeda was unable to join the reunion due to COVID.

The sold-out gala was Twisted Sister’s first performance together since they wrapped their 2016 farewell tour in November of that year. That tour featured Portnoy taking over on drums following original drummer AJ Pero‘s 2015 death.

Luke, Cody and Keith have a Watershed moment

Luke Bryan, Cody Johnson and Keith Urban will headline this year’s Watershed Music and Camping Festival August 4, 5, 6 at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington.

Carly Pearce, Lainey Wilson, Travis Denning, Ernest, Kameron Marlowe, Parker McCollum, Niko Moon, Kylie Morgan, Conner Smith, Tenille Townes and more will also perform that weekend.

Newcomers Avery Anna, Chayce Beckham, Pillbox Patti, MacKenzie Porter, Aaron Raitiere and others will play the Next From Nashville stage, as well.

Atreyu premieres new single, “Drowning”

Atreyu has premiered a new single called “Drowning.”

The track is available now via digital outlets and is accompanied by a lighthearted video featuring the metalcore outfit taking a trip to the community pool. You can watch that streaming now on YouTube.

“Drowning” follows Atreyu’s 2021 album, Baptize, which includes the Travis Barker-featuring single “Warrior.”

Last year, Atreyu released collaborative songs with Zero 9:36 and Kayzo.

Ava Max unleashes sophomore album ‘Diamonds & Dancefloors’

Ava Max wants her fans to put on their dancing shoes when firing up her newly released album, Diamonds & Dancefloors.

The hotly anticipated sophomore effort was set to arrive October 14, but was delayed to January 27 after it leaked online.

Now that the album’s due date has finally arrived, Ava is ready to celebrate.

“This album came from a place of heartbreak but Id rather dance my sorrows away,” she wrote on Instagram along with a teaser for her “One of Us” music video. She added in the caption, “Thank you for all of your endless support, let’s dance together.”

In the hours leading up to the album’s release, she teased clips of the songs on her socials, along with some candid-looking promotional images.

The newly released music video stays on theme, with Ava overcoming a terrible heartbreak; it focuses on her in a wedding dress lying in an open grave while clones of her, who are dressed in black, stand above and throw flowers down on her.

Fans can purchase or stream Diamonds & Dancefloors across all music platforms. The album is available as a vinyl, CD or cassette tape.

Smokey Robinson announces first album in more than nine years

Smokey Robinson is ready to release some new music. People reports the 82-year-old Motown legend will drop GASMS, his first studio album in more than nine years, on April 28.

The new collection features songs written and produced by Smokey; he’s already dropped the first single, “If We Don’t Have Each Other,” to streaming services.

“I chose this song as the first single of my new album because it’s different musically and has a slide dance feeling to it … which is different from what I’ve ever done before,” he shares. “It also has a current rhythm of today that I love, and I hope everyone else does too.”

GASMS is the first Smokey album since 2014’s Smokey & Friends, featuring new versions of his classic tunes with the help of stars like Elton John, Mary J. Blige, Steven Tyler and James Taylor.

The new album comes as Smokey is getting ready to receive a pretty huge honor by the Recording Academy. He and Berry Gordy are set to be honored as the 2023 MusiCares Persons of the Year on February 3, where they will be celebrated by such artists as Michael McDonald, Lionel Richie, Sheryl Crow, Dionne Warwick and The Temptations.

Cole Swindell’s stereotype is broken

Cole Swindell‘s new single, “Drinkaby” — which rhymes with lullaby — is out now, and his new deluxe album will be out soon.

Stereotype Broken comes out April 28 and adds a track called “Broken,” a remix of his smash “She Had Me at Heads Carolina,” as well as “Sad A** Country Songs” and the new single.

“Drinkaby” was written by fellow artists Jon Pardi and HARDY, along with Jordan Schmidt and Hunter Phelps.

“’Drinkaby,’ from the first time I heard it, I pictured it being a huge show opener,” Cole says. “The guitar lick in the intro just grabs you and doesn’t let you go.”

“I’m not sure if there is such thing as a fun breakup song but that’s kind of what this is,” he observes. “Glad it’s finally out and can’t wait to get out there and play it live.”

Of course, Stereotype Broken also features all the songs on the original album, which came out last April, including the number ones “Never Say Never” with Lainey Wilson and “Single Saturday Night.”
