The Who’s iconic album Quadrophenia will be the subject of a new documentary.

According to Variety, the film, The Story of Quadrophenia, will explore the “enduring cultural legacy” of the band’s 1973 rock opera, as well as “its continuing evolution.” It will include a behind-the-scenes look at the ballet interpretation, Quadrophenia: A Mod Ballet, which debuted in the U.K. in 2025.

The Who’s Pete Townshend has given his support to the film, which is being directed by director/actress Sadie Frost, and produced by Frost and her producing partner Simon Jones, with Townshend’s wife, Rachel Fuller, also involved in the development.

The film will feature contributions from several stars of the album’s 1979 film adaption, including Ray Winstone, Lesley Ash, Toyah Wilcox and Phil Daniels.

Released in 1973, Quadrophenia was The Who’s second full rock opera following 1969’s Tommy. It featured such classic songs as “The Real Me,” “Love, Reign O’er Me” and “5:15.”

Set in Brighton, England, in 1965, the story follows a young working-class mod named Jimmy on a journey of self-discovery. The album’s title was inspired by Jimmy’s four-way “split personality,” with each member of the band representing a different facet of his personality.

Mike Campbell and The Dirty Knobs have released the new track “No Regrets” from their upcoming album, Mission of Mercy.

“‘No Regrets’ was written the night before we recorded it. It’s like a movie in song about a fictional character who’s run out of town on a bum rap,” says Campbell. “What you hear is The Dirty Knobs’ first take; it’s basically saying, ‘let go of the past and go on living your life!’”

Mission of Mercy, Mike Campbell and The Dirty Knobs’ fourth studio album, will be released June 12. It features guest appearances by The B-52s’ Kate Pierson and Morgane Stapleton.

Following the release of the album, Mike Campbell and The Dirty Knobs are set to hit the road on a summer tour, which launches July 7 in Minneapolis. Campbell is also booked for a special concert on Sept. 12 in Atlanta, where he’ll play Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers hits backed by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Campbell and The Dirty Knobs will also open for Chris Stapleton on Oct. 2 in Bristow, Virginia.

The Rolling Stones have revealed the track list for their upcoming album, Foreign Tongues.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers posted the 14-song track list on Instagram Wednesday, one day after they teased fans with the song titles.

The Stones released the track list to streaming services on Tuesday. But, taking inspiration from the album’s title, all the song titles were in different languages, with the exception of already released tracks “Rough and Twisted” and “In the Stars.” The band didn’t identify what languages they were.

The Stones are also planning to drop the music video for “In the Stars” on Thursday and offered a short tease of the clip, featuring actress Odessa A’zion, on Instagram.

Foreign Tongues, The Rolling Stones’ first album since 2023’s Hackney Diamonds, drops July 10.

Alex Van Halen is setting the record straight about not having Michael Anthony in Van Halen for their 2006 reunion with original frontman David Lee Roth.

In an interview with the Brazilian outlet KazaGastão, Alex says that when the band decided to reunite with Roth they reached out to Anthony, but wound up going with Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang Van Halen when Anthony didn’t respond.

“We did call,” Alex says. “To put the record straight, we did call Mike cause we owed him that, and we did call, he just didn’t answer.”

“You know, and I’m not angry at him, I love Mike,” he adds, noting that he was his “drinking buddy.”

Alex says Wolfgang wound up getting the gig because he impressed him and Eddie in the studio.

“People think … that there’s family influences in how he became part of the band, which is just simply not true,” he says.

Anthony’s last tour with Van Halen was their 2004 reunion tour with Sammy Hagar. Anthony is currently playing with Hagar on his The Best of All Worlds Tour, which has Hagar performing a set filled with Va Halen classics. The next U.S. leg launches June 13 in St. Louis.

U2 has been working on a new album for quite a while and it sounds like they’re finally getting ready to give fans their first taste of the record.

The Irish rockers were in Mexico City Tuesday filming a music video on top of a school bus, which was surrounded by fans. According to a press release, the video is for the track “Street of Dreams,” which will appear on U2’s yet-to-be announced album, which is expected to be released later this year.

The band shared a clip of their Mexico City takeover on Instagram, adding the caption, “Hopped a bus in Mexico City, destination: Street of Dreams,” along with what is likely a lyric from the song, “‘Justice an obsession, love is a procession down the street of dreams.’”

But it seems the video shoot didn’t go off without a hitch. According to a separate post on Instagram, “thunder and rain crashed the generator for the film shoot,” forcing the band to take cover. The post notes, “a bewildered but welcoming neighbour let the U2ers crash their apartment at dinner time and out to their balcony.”

The post is accompanied by a video showing the band entering the local’s home, and then taking to their balcony. The crowd below serenaded U2 with their song “Vertigo,” with Bono and the band joining them. The band also played along as the crowd sang their hit “Desire.”

U2’s next release will be their first album of new material since 2017’s Songs of Experience. They did release two EPs with new material — Days of Ash and Easter Lily — in February and April, respectively.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the soft rock hit “I’d Really Love to See You Tonight” by England Dan and John Ford Coley, and to mark the occasion, a new take on the song has just been released.

The reimagined version has Coley “reuniting” with his late singing partner Dan Seals, with Coley singing the second verse, not just the harmonies like he did in the original song.

“I’d Really Love to See You Tonight,” written by Parker McGee, was a huge hit for the duo, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. But Coley says he and Seals originally “fought against” recording it. Of course, their first instinct turned out to be the wrong one.

“The first time that I knew that I was wrong was when I saw the first royalty check,” Coley tells ABC Audio, explaining he and Seals originally didn’t like the song because they wanted to be known as singer-songwriters.

“Unfortunately, all the songs that we had written generated about $1.98 in sales,” he jokes.

The song has caused some confusion over the years, with fans mishearing what Seals is singing in the opening of the chorus, as he mumbles the line “I’m not talking about moving in.” Coley says to this day he still gets people asking about it.

“I’ve gotten, ‘I’m not talking about wiggling, M&M’s, Bolivia, linen,’ it just goes on,” he says. ”And I get a couple that I cannot repeat in polite company.”

Looking back, the 77-year-old Coley can’t quite believe it’s been 50 years since the song came out.

“It’s ironic for me because I don’t even think I’m 50 years old myself yet,” he says. “And to have something stay around that long, I mean, I’m flabbergasted, staggered by the whole thing.”

Deep Purple is giving fans the first taste of their upcoming album, SPLAT!

The band has just released a video for the record’s first single, “Arrogant Boy,” which is the lead track from the album.

SPLAT!, dropping July 3, explores the idea of the end of humanity as a transformation rather than a destruction, with the album’s description noting it sees the end “not in any crude apocalyptic sense but as a metamorphosis beyond physical existence.”

It is Deep Purple’s first album since 2024’s =1.

Deep Purple is set to kick off a European tour on June 11 in Finland. The trek includes several festival appearances, including a show at the Montreux Jazz Festival on July 12. They launch a North American tour Aug. 4 in Raleigh, North Carolina, with dates confirmed through Sept. 12 in Sparks, Nevada.

Legendary music producer Jack Douglas, who worked with such artists as John Lennon and Aerosmith, passed away at 80. The news was confirmed by his family in a statement on Facebook.

“He passed away peacefully on Monday night,” read the post. “As many of you who follow him know, he produced great music, and lived a colorful life. We know that he touched many of your lives; we would love to hear more about that in the comments. He will be missed.”

Douglas had a successful career producing albums in the 1970s, 1980s and beyond. His first success came as an engineer on John Lennon’s 1971 album, Imagine, and he later worked as a producer on Lennon and Yoko Ono’s Double Fantasy, the final Lennon album released before his December 1980 death. Douglas’ work on Double Fantasy earned him a Grammy for album of the year.

Douglas also saw great success working with Aerosmith, which resulted in four multiplatinum albums: 1974’s Get Your Wings, 1975’s Toys in the Attic, 1976’s Rocks and 1977’s Draw the Line.

Douglas worked with several other artists throughout his career, either as an engineer or producer, including Cheap Trick, Patti Smith, New York Dolls and Slash.

One day Stevie Nicks will write a memoir, but until then we can make do with Lessons & Lace, a biography of the two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Famer that’s due out Sept. 15.

Written by Rachel Brodsky, the book, subtitled “Everything I Know About Dreams, Heartbreak, and Magic I Learned from Stevie Nicks,” isn’t a straight biography. It’s a series of chapters organized around specific themes.

According to a press release, each chapter is focused on a “different life lesson that Stevie has absorbed and later dispensed wisdom on,” drawn from archival interviews and comments from those in Stevie’s circle. There are also full-color line drawings to accompany the “notable quotes to inspire hard-learned, life-changing lessons.”

“Lessons & Lace recounts Stevie‘s path to becoming the wisdom-dispersing fairy godmother we know her as today,” Brodsky says in a statement.

“I think sometimes we forget how much skepticism she faced from the music industry and her peers … the uphill climb she faced to be taken seriously as a true artist and writer, what it took to overcome her struggles with addiction, and how she inspired new generations of musicians to write with their own combinations of vulnerability and strength.”

Brodsky goes on to say that, like her song “Leather & Lace,” Stevie is “soft and hard, romantic and practical, sensual and sensible.” She adds that she hopes readers “walk away feeling inspired to live their lives with Stevie-style authenticity, bravery, and truth.”

Sept. 15, the day of the book’s release, Brodsky will appear at LA’s Book Soup to discuss it.

Paul McCartney has always seemed to have a good sense of humor, but evidently he doesn’t necessarily want to hear people making jokes about him.

Comedian Jeff Ross, who executive produces Netflix’s roast franchise, including the recent roast of comedian Kevin Hart, tells Variety that they offered McCartney the chance to be the subject of a roast, but he declined the opportunity.

“We did ask Paul McCartney at one point. To me, that would be a fantasy roast,” says Ross. “Paul McCartney doesn’t need anything, but a Paul McCartney roast would be good for the world.”

He adds, “It would be so funny to me because he is so loved.”

Instead of people laughing at McCartney, fans are just going to have to be OK with watching McCartney perform his new music on a show filled with laughs. The Beatles legend is set to be the musical guest on the season finale of Saturday Night Live on May 16.

In other McCartney news … the rocker is will appear on the BBC Radio 2 show Tracks of My Years, where he’ll reveal the 10 songs that have soundtracked his life. His special episode will air May 25, ahead of the May 29 release of his new solo album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane.
