Dropkick Murphys & Violent Femmes release new collaborative song, “Gotta Get to Peekskill”

Dummy Luck Music/[PIAS]

Dropkick Murphys and Violent Femmes have released a new collaborative song called “Gotta Get to Peekskill.”

The joint tune will be included on the upcoming Murphys album Okemah Rising, which features new, original music set to the unpublished writings of late folk legend Woody Guthrie.

“We had the privilege of collaborating with the Violent Femmes on this feisty track,” says Murphys vocalist/bassist Ken Casey. “Acoustic Dropkicks sounds a lot like the Violent Femmes in my opinion, so the collaboration is musically and symbolically fitting. And singing a song about fighting the Ku Klux Klan is always extra fun.”

You can listen to “Gotta Get to Peekskill” now via digital outlets. Its accompanying video premieres next Thursday, April 6.

Okemah Rising is due out May 12.
