A “beyond devastated” Angie Harmon says delivery person shot and killed family dog

Actress Angie Harmon said this week that her family dog was shot and killed by a man delivering groceries to her North Carolina home.

“This Easter weekend a man delivering groceries for Instacart shot& killed our precious Oliver,” the actress wrote in an Instagram post Monday. “He got out of his car, delivered the food& THEN shot our dog.”

Harmon said her home’s security camera was being charged at the time of the incident and hadn’t recorded anything.

“The police let him go [because] he claimed ‘self defense.’ He did not have a scratch or bite on him nor were his pants torn,” Harmon wrote.

“He shot our dog with my daughters& myself at home& just kept saying, ‘yeah, I shot your dog. Yeah I did,'” Harmon wrote. “We are completely traumatized& beyond devastated at the loss of our beloved boy& family member. #RIP OLLIE.”

The Rizzoli & Isles star claimed the delivery person’s identity didn’t appear to match the name on the Instacart app.

When reached by Good Morning America, Instacart, which offers grocery delivery services in all 50 states, said it was “deeply saddened and disturbed to hear about this incident.”

The statement continued, “We have no tolerance for violence of any kind, and the shopper account was immediately suspended from our platform. We have been in direct contact with the customer and are cooperating with law enforcement on their investigation.”

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, a delivery driver told officers on Saturday that he was delivering food at the home when the dog attacked him and he fired a single shot in self-defense. The police also said another dog was present at the home but “did not attack.”

“No criminal charges have been filed in relation to this incident,” the police added.

George Lucas tops ‘Forbes” Celebrity Billionaires list

Pascal Le Segretain/Getty Images

Each year, Forbes ranks those who have made the very exclusive billionaire’s list, and with it, which people from the entertainment community are among them.

Topping the World’s Celebrity Billionaires list for 2024 is Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchise creator George Lucas. Lucas first made the list back in 1997, largely thanks to owning the merchandising rights for his galaxy far, far away. However, the deal in 2012 to sell his Lucasfilm to ABC News’ parent company Disney for more than $4 billion in cash and stock boosted his net worth to $5.5 billion.

Coming in second is Lucas’ longtime friend and Indiana Jones franchise partner Steven Spielberg. His net worth was estimated at $4.8 billion, largely from profits from blockbusters he’s had a hand in, from the Indy movies to Shindler’s List, to the Jurassic Park franchise, Forbes notes.

Michael Jordan ranked third, with $3.2 billion. He made $1.8 billion from Nike’s Air Jordans and other endorsements, and turned a $175 million investment in the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets back in 2010 into $3 billion when he sold the team in 2023.

Oprah Winfrey came in at #4 with an estimated worth of $2.8 billion, while Jay-Z ranked #5, thanks to money moves in the spirits industry, in addition to his music empire.

Another famous entrepreneur, Kim Kardashian, was #6 with $1.7 billion; Lord of the Rings Oscar winner Peter Jackson took the #7 slot with $1.5 billion, thanks to a billion-dollar sale of some of his Weta Digital company in 2021.

Entertainment mogul Tyler Perry was #8 with $1.4 billion — same as singer, actress and entrepreneur Rihanna (#9). Tiger Woods rounded out the top 10 with $1.3 billion.

Jared Leto’s surprising sub for Pat Sajak in ‘Wheel of Fortune’ April Fools’ gag

Disney/Frank Micelotta

Oscar winner Jared Leto replaced Pat Sajak as the host of Wheel of Fortune during Monday night’s episode — temporarily — in an April Fools’ Day prank.

The episode, which aired April 1, began with Leto walking out with Vanna White and waving at the audience as the announcer introduced them as “the stars of our show,” as usual.

As they arrived at their marks, Leto channeled Sajak, telling White to “have a great show” before the two separated and made their way to their usual positions.

Leto — still dedicated to the bit — showed off his hosting chops by saying, “All right everybody, grab those devices. It’s time to give away some money: $1,000 in our first toss-up, the category is On the Map.”

Then the prank was over, with the show cutting to Sajak as host.

Incidentally, the actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman and his bandmate brother, Shannon, recently posted a Wheel-themed video to announce their band’s forthcoming tour starting in July. They portrayed contestants on the actual set of the show, with Sajak and White playing along with the gag.

Zoe Saldaña talks the future of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, her “hope” for a fourth ‘Trek’ film

Marvel Studios

Zoe Saldaña sat down with The Playlist for an upcoming installment of its podcast The Discourse, and she talked about the future of two of her most famous franchises.

While Saldaña says her run as the green-skinned warrior might be over after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, she thinks the character could live on, saying, “I don’t think Gamora has gone for good.”

Zoe added, “I would think it would be a huge loss for Marvel if they didn’t find a way to bring back The Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s just such a fan-favorite group of misfits, you know?”

While Guardians writer-director James Gunn has left Marvel Studios to head up Warner Bros.’ DC movie universe, this ship may have sailed, but Zoe added his voice and writing was “just so marvelous for and very specific for this genre. And it’s so great for this genre as well.”

Saldaña added, “So, I would be the first one in the first row to sort of celebrate when the Guardians of the Galaxy come back.”

Further, Saldaña talked about a fourth Star Trek film, which has apparently heated back up after several false starts, with The Flight Attendant‘s co-creator Steve Yockey writing a new script.

“I still have hope,” Zoe said, calling her three films as Nyota Uhura “a wonderful experience.”

Saldaña added, “I know that they’re always trying to sort of aim to wrangle everybody together, but I also know that Paramount is working on a new sort of fresh take on Star Trek, which I think is such a wonderful franchise that should live for a very long time, whether or not us as the original remake cast can come back. I don’t know, but I certainly hope so.”

Kyra Sedgwick shares the most challenging part about acting with husband Kevin Bacon

Paras Griffin/Getty Images

Kyra Sedgwick loves working with her husband, Kevin Bacon, but is sharing the most challenging part about working with him.

“I think the thing you have to hide is the fact that you’ve known each other for 35 years,” said Sedgwick on The View on Monday.

“You’re usually playing strangers who meet,” she added. “Hopefully we’re good enough actors that you will believe us and buy into these characters, and of course you will because it’s not us at all. But it’s great working together, it’s really fun.”

Sedgwick has starred in several films with Bacon over the years. The couple met while on the set of the movie Lemon Sky in 1987.

They wed in September 1988, then went on to star together in the rom-com Pyrates in 1991; the 1995 film Murder in the First; and Cavedweller in 2004.

Bacon also directed Sedgwick in his film Loverboy, which also starred their daughter, Sosie, and son, Travis. Between 2006 and 2009, the Footloose actor directed The Closer, which starred Sedgwick.

In January, it was announced that Sedgwick and Bacon will star in the upcoming film Connescence, a movie about a fictional character named Stan Olszewski, “a chronically underachieving security guard” who “breaks up an attempted robbery at the home of Cynthia Rand,” according to a press release for the project.

Bacon will play Stan, while Sedgwick will play Cynthia, “a successful urologist married to brilliant former Watergate prosecutor Warren Rand.”

Connescence, which is directed by Michael J. Weithorn, will also star Judd Hirsch and Brittany O’Grady.

“We are so excited to work together on screen again for the first time in twenty years in such a funny, moving and original script,” Sedgwick and Bacon said in a statement.

Barbara Rush, who appeared in many movies and TV shows, including It Came From Outer Space and Peyton Place, died Sunday, her daughter, Fox News Channel correspondent Claudia Cowan, announced, according to Variety. ‘3 Body Problem’ stars talk Netflix show’s global appeal and tongue-twisting physics

Netflix/Ed Miller

Netflix’s 3 Body Problem, the new sci-fi series from Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, recently debuted in second place on Netflix’s global TV charts with 11 million views over four days.

The show deals with an international cadre of physicists who learn the first encounter with extraterrestrials may not be as friendly as some would hope.

The sci-fi epic reached the top 10 in 93 countries, and star Zine Tseng credits, in part, the series’ diverse and multicultural cast. “We have so [many] different languages. … That’s, like, juicy,” she enthuses to ABC Audio, adding the cast gives the adaptation “easier access for the global audience.”

Jovan Adepo plays Saul Durand, one of the brilliant Oxford Five scientists. Getting his tongue around the series’ complicated physics-speak was a challenge for the actor. “That, like, first go-round, I think … we all had a bit of an experience getting around the theories and trying to understand them just enough to be able to speak them confidently.”

He added, “Luckily we had … consultants that were actual working physicists who could … you know, do their best to explain what we were going to be explaining on screen.”

Adepo’s character may be a brilliant physicist, but he’s also cool — however, the actor says he can’t take full credit for that. “That’s credit to David and Dan [Weiss] and [Alexander Woo] writing Saul that way. … It’s a labor of love of theirs. You can tell that they really enjoy writing all of the characters, especially the Oxford Five.”

The show must go on: Michael Stuhlbarg won’t miss Broadway performance after being attacked

Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images

Actor Michael Stuhlbarg, who starred in Dopesick and Your Honor, as well as movies like Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange, will take to the Broadway stage Monday evening as scheduled, a night after he was attacked in Central Park.

According to New York affiliate WABC-TV, the Boardwalk Empire star was walking near East Drive at East 90th Street on Sunday evening when a homeless man threw a rock that struck him in the back of the head.

Stuhlbarg, 55, chased down his alleged attacker, who was apprehended by police. Xavier Israel, 27, was charged with felony assault. Israel has three prior arrests, two for misdemeanors and one for theft, all from January 2022, according to WABC-TV.

Stuhlbarg suffered a small bruise and declined medical attention at the scene, WABC-TV reports.

The play Patriots will have its first preview performance at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, and Stuhlbarg will be there, producers said Monday. “As media outlets have reported, the actor was randomly attacked near Central Park last night,” reads a release from the production.

“The entire Patriots company fully supports Mr. Stuhlbarg, who feels fine and is looking forward to performing on stage tonight,” the message concluded.

“The Mayor is back”: Paramount+ teases season 3 of Jeremy Renner’s ‘Mayor of Kingstown’

Paramount+/Dennis P. Mong Jr.

On Monday, Paramount+ dropped a new teaser to the third season of the acclaimed Jeremy Renner-led drama Mayor of Kingstown, noting the show will return on the streamer June 2.

Renner, who got back to work on the show as bruising local Minnesota fixer Mike McLusky not long after his miraculous recovery from a near-fatal snowplow accident, voices over the hard-hitting sneak peek.

The snippet begins with Mike and other characters attending a funeral — likely that of Mike’s mother, Miriam, who was played by Oscar winner Dianne Weist. As reported, her character was seriously wounded in the cliff-hanger finale of the second season and subsequently news emerged that she wouldn’t be back for the show’s third installment.

“Five percent of people are truly good,” Renner narrates. “Five percent are evil. The rest of us, we wrestle between the two: Who we are, what we are, what we’re willing to do.”

Meanwhile, a title card reads “The Mayor is back in business,” and the onscreen action shows just that.

Co-created by cast member Hugh Dillon and Yellowstone‘s Taylor Sheridan, the series also stars Emma Laird, Tobi Bamtefa and Michael Beach, among others.
