Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are switching it up again in Freakier Friday.

The film, which serves as sequel to 2003’s Freaky Friday, arrives in theaters on, of course, Friday.

Curtis told ABC News why this new film already feels so familiar to fans of the original.

“Because there’s nostalgia. Because the world feels really shaky and a little scary and very unstable and — in every way, right? Environmentally, politically, spiritually, it just feels a little shaky,” Curtis said. “What you return to is familiarity and safety. And that’s what nostalgia is.”

Lohan reprises her role of Anna Coleman in this new film, before she switches bodies with her teenage daughter, Harper.

“Playing Harper was fun because I remember I would get so jealous of Jamie playing a teenager in the original, because I had to be so buttoned up all the time,” Lohan said. “I was afraid it would come across as boring when I was young.”

Curtis also opened up about how many of the film’s locations burned down in the wildfires that tore through Los Angeles communities earlier in 2025.

“In the California fires, the house that we shot in, the original movie and this movie, burnt to the ground,” Curtis said. “You will look at the Pacific Palisades and you will know what it looked like because of movies like Freakier Friday. Because all of the driving and all the house and all that beautiful greenery, which is now gone because of those awful, devastating fires, will live on in Freakier Friday.”

Battinson will be back in action next spring.

Robert Pattinson will return to the role of Bruce Wayne to start filming Matt Reeves‘ sequel The Batman Part II in spring 2026.

The news came from the Warner Bros. Discovery letter to shareholders from CEO David Zaslav as reported on by Variety. The superhero film will begin shooting next spring ahead of the scheduled October 2027 release.

Also shared in the letter to shareholders was the upcoming schedule of DC Universe films, hot off the success of James Gunn‘s Superman. The shared plan shows off what else is to come from the new superhero cinematic universe.

“In film, James Gunn is busy preparing the next installments of the DC super family, including Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (2026), Clayface (2026) and the next Wonder Woman. In addition, The Batman II (2027) is preparing to begin shooting next spring, among several other projects in development.”

Zaslav also elaborated more on the 10-year vision for the DC Universe, including its slate of TV projects such as The Penguin, a new season of Peacemaker and the upcoming series Lanterns, which is set to debut in 2026.

“In a precise and measured way, the DC franchise will increasingly overlay across the studio’s broader efforts: from film and TV to consumer products, games, experiences and social,” the shareholder letter reads.

The Batman Part II flies into theaters on Oct. 1, 2027.

‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’ cast talks prequel’s interconnected romance

Get ready to travel even further back in time with the Outlander prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood.

While the original series focuses on the time-traveling love story of Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Beauchamp Fraser (Caitriona Balfe), the new Starz drama follows the dual love stories of Jamie and Claire’s parents across 18th century Scotland and World War I era England.

Jamie Roy and Harriet Slater, who play Jamie Fraser’s parents Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie, say that similar to Jamie and Claire, their characters face obstacles that keep them apart. But the difference is how they fall in love.

“When Jamie and Claire are put together they’re kind of almost forced together for certain reasons and then they realize they have this love for each other,” Roy explains. “Whereas when Brian and Ellen meet, it’s from that first moment that they see each other in the stables they’re like, ‘Wow, there’s something about you that I know is going to change my life.’”

The cast says the series’ built-in fanbase has already been so supportive, as seen by the positive reaction at San Diego Comic-Con and the show’s recent L.A. premiere. The original cast — which has wrapped filming on Outlander’s eighth and final season — has also been involved in passing the torch.

“Sam [Heughan] has been nothing but supportive,” Roy says. “He was texting me asking how I was getting on and everything, how was I handling everything and he’s just been so, so supportive and I can’t say enough how much it means to me.”

Outlander: Blood of My Blood, also starring Hermione Corfield and Jeremy Irvine, premieres its first two episodes Friday, Aug. 8; the show has already been renewed for season 2.

(SPOILER ALERT) Fans were left reeling after the jaw-dropping twists in The Buccaneers season 2 finale.

Among them was the reveal that Nan (Kristine Frøseth) is pregnant with her estranged husband Theo’s (Guy Remmers) child. By the end of the season, it seems as though neither Theo nor Guy Thwarte (Matthew Broome) are romantic options for Nan anymore, so she runs away with plans to raise the child by herself.

Frøseth told ABC Audio she’s excited about this new development for Nan.

“I’m really glad that Nan leaves, and I think it’d be really exciting to see how she’s going to raise her child, how she is going to hopefully maybe do that by herself,” Frøseth said. “It was never about the men, and it became that because of all these crazy circumstances.”

Theo does not know Nan is pregnant. If he did, does Remmers think it would change how he feels about Nan?

“I would think so. I think it would rock his world, you know?” Remmers said. “There are a lot of things that are on the horizon for Theo that I think are gonna completely turn his world upside down.”

Additionally, Theo abdicated his title as the Duke of Tintagel so he can divorce Nan and eventually marry her best friend, Lizzy (Aubri Ibrag). Ibrag said while Lizzy finally has love, “it didn’t exactly end with her in her ideal situation.”

“Lizzy’s still not at peace because now she’s hurt and betrayed her friend,” Ibrag said. “It’s a bittersweet thing. So, I think there is still a lot that needs to be resolved with that as well.”

All episodes of The Buccaneers season 2 are available to stream on Apple TV+.
